Month breather mask
Month breather mask
What Mask are you using as a mouth breather? I want to test this type of mask. The mask I used goes under my chin so it keeps my mouth close. But my nose stops up at night. Couple a years a go sleep Dr. said the machine reading are good there must some other reason am not sleeping good. Also posted the reading here and the crew said the reading where good. So whats your favorite mask that lets you breath threw your mouth. Thanks.

There are very many designs and sizes of 'full face' masks, so you need to try on what might work for you - and do it lying down because your face changes when you lie down and will affect the fit and seal of a FF mask a lot more than just a nasal type.
Unless you have a local dealer who will let you try many masks on site, go to Cpap.com and look at all the different masks, see what looks likely for you and they'll let you try some for a short time to see how things go (other dealers don't always do that). You'll see pix of the masks from different angles, reviews by other customers, etc. and if you have questions from others who''ve used particular ones ask here and hopefully get answers. It's unlikely you'll be happy with the first one(s) you try, but this is the hardest part of getting used to Cpap - finding a mask that works for you.
Some mouth breathers use tape every night to keep their lips closed - e.g. 3M micropore, because it comes off easily in the a.m. and is usually available in most pharmacies.. so you might want to try that out as well.
By the way if your nose is stuffy, try either a lower (or none) setting on the humidifier if you use one at all, depending on the season and local humidity, or else something like Flonase from the drugstore.

Re: Month breather mask
Like yourself as much as I was fully convinced that I was a mouth breather (at least when I slept) when I started CPAP therapy I began to experiment with nasal masks after a little while into it and found it easy to adjust my breathing while using a nasal mask. A good nasal rinse seemed to help out a lot (Neilmed Sinuflow ect) along with simply placing my tongue at the top of my mouth while using a nasal mask seemed to work pretty dang good (it pretty much seals you nostrils away from you mouth)! I admit it took me about a week to get it all under control as I kept waking up with air from the machine rushing out of my mouth but after getting it down there is no way I'd ever go back to a full face mask. After experimenting with over a dozen different masks (cheap but deals can be found)I found the Resmed p10 to be the perfect mask and you couldn't pay me to go back to a full face. I was one hell of a snorer also (like my Dad and his Dad before him) and was pretty much convinced it was something that ran in the family when sleeping but found that totally not to be the case. With a little effort on your part I would be willing to bet you will be able to get the same results!
