Encore Installed - Should I Raise Pressure
Encore Installed - Should I Raise Pressure
After two days of stuggling I finally got my Encore Pro and card reader installed and working. I thought I was computer literate, but this was the most difficult thing I have ever had to install.
Looking at my first report, I think I need to increase the max pressure on my Auto machine. Right now it's set 8 to 11. However the report from Encore shows that some nights my 90% pressure is 11 and I'm still having some apneas at that pressure. Am I right in thinking that I should try raising the max pressure to 12 or 13?

I would say, yes, if you think you can tolerate it without causing leaks, etc. But go by how you feel. To me, that's just as important as the numbers.
I run my pressure a little low because higher pressures cause me ear pain.

Also you are using a nasal interface, are you sure you aren't mouth leaking?
If you are, that can be the cause of staying at a high pressure and still having a high AHI.
Treatment only works, if your airway is opened by the pressure, if it gets out of your mouth, not enough pressure is left to hold the airway open. Jim

You should see the leaks get worse in Encore Pro's Daily graphs.RoseY wrote:I'm pretty sure I'm not mouth breathing. I didn't during my sleep study and don't wake up with a dry mouth.Goofproof wrote:Also you are using a nasal interface, are you sure you aren't mouth leaking?

You need to make decisions based on a few night with the same settings, only making one change for each test. A few nights of taping would help you see a baseline, but 8 to 12 Cm would be a good test too providing you aren't mouthleaking. Jim
