Will skiping one night of CPAP be harmful? Bad tooth extraction

Post by massacrew » Tue Aug 25, 2020 10:45 pm

I had a pretty bad tooth extraction today and I use a cpap. While I want to use the machine, I don't want anyone pain. My jaw got butchered.. How harmful is it to skip a night or two?

Try anyway--or sleep as upright as possible to avoid blood pooling in your mouth.
Dental work can be misery--froggie cyber hug coming now.

You probably went years with apnea before being diagnosed and you're still here... so I doubt that one night will do more than make you feel crappy the next day.

It depends on the severity of your sleep apnea, how effective your CPAP therapy has been, and how long you have been using CPAP.

If you skip CPAP, try to stay off your back while sleeping. For many, sleep apnea is more severe when backsleeping.

If you skip or if you don't, please post in this thread how things are going for you.

Good luck. Heal quickly.

Heal quickly!

I sleep with my CPAP every night. Except after surgery. I have a tendency to throw up after anesthesia. Did you know if you are nauseated you should not use your CPAP?! I read it in the fine print of one of my masks! I guess maybe because of the risk of aspiration? So I also don't use it when I have am throwing up with a stomach bug (I have two grandchildren  ). Otherwise, every night

If nauseous, I just stay up until it passes.
I'm lucky--it does.
Usually after giving in and letting it spew.
Feel better faster.
I learned that resistance is futile--it just makes me miserable longer.
Of course, frog vomit--do NOT watch the video.

Personally, I don't think it would hurt to skip a night or two. I have skipped a few nights myself. Last year, I missed five nights because I ended up sleeping in my recliner due to a severe asthma attack and I couldn't sleep much due to the high dose steroids I was using. I would only sleep thirty or forty minutes at a time.

Hasn't been back here either to see any replies since making the first post. Last visit log in/out was about 2 minutes after the post.
I think was even logged out before I saw the post to approve it since it was a new account first post and I did approve it not long after it was posted.
Probably why I didn't reply when I approved it....didn't see him online any more.

Pretty sure OP's mind was made up before even posting the question and one way or another has an answer already to the question.
