while we wait for some users to post, here are some past discussions-

viewtopic/t175478/CBD-Oil---Does-it-wor ... tried.html

viewtopic/t173576/CBD-from-cannabis-oil ... sleep.html

there is more. the search function on the forum isn't the best. so what i recommend is using your browser search by typing in "www.cpaptalk.com cbd oil" and you'll get better results.

now, let's see what folks have to say!
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

The first thing I can see is that it is expensive, may go back to amitriptyline for sleep. I used amitriptyline for sleep before but since it was used for depression that is how it came to be in my medical record and it took some doing to get it removed. My pharmacists now says it is officially recognized for sleep so I may go back to it.

Amitriptyline in low doses has been shown to help with pain control which of course helps with sleep. I took it myself for years for this reason but even the lowest dose and only at bedtime made me feel like crap during the day.
Obviously when people see it on the records it is assumed a mental health thing but that's not the only reason for it and the dosage for depression is massive when compared to what we take at bedtime for sleep.
It is a SSRI kind of drug and all those come with their own baggage as well like the suppression of REM stuff which I am not so keen on.
I quit it some time ago because to be honest...I could either feel like crap from medication side effects or feel like crap from poor sleep from the pain and I found that I did have days where maybe the pain didn't mess with sleep so bad the night before and I felt quite decent during the day.

I have not tried the cbd oil stuff. I did try some cbd gummies but to be honest I quickly realized that the amount I would maybe need to help me sleep.....made that experiment real expensive. I might revisit that experiment later.

Right now I am 2 weeks into a gabapentin experiment to see how it goes. The jury is still out...very low dose and it does look promising a bit. I am sleeping a bit longer with less wake ups during the night due to pain. I need to pull the SD card and compare hours of use and look for arousals to see if it is really making much of an impact and I just haven't done it yet. I wanted more time to compare the before and after. I don't remember the arousals and tossing and turning that I would remember when not on it.....and I am sleeping longer but it's very early in the experiment. I can't decide if the 300 mg dose only at bedtime is affecting how I feel during the day or not. It might be that I do better with 200 mg at bedtime in terms of daytime feelings. I did 100 mg for 5 nights..then 200 mg for 5 nights and now 300 mg and I am thinking that my daytime symptoms are leaning towards not what I want. I know it shouldn't do that but that means nothing to me as I know all medications can cause all sorts of symptoms even if not listed as a normal known side effect.
I listen to my body first.

For me...my daytime feelings are just as important as the night time stuff. I know I need some sort of help though. Prior to this experiment was getting maybe 4 hours of crappy sleep and that is a recipe for disaster.

Let me know if you do try the CBD oil experiment and how it goes. I know your sleep issues are similar to mine in terms of pain stuff.
When I tried it...it was a low dose gummy bear thing. The lower dose did nothing and from everything I read...I would need a higher dose to expect to see results if I got any positive results. At $4 a gummy...not doable and I would have had to go with the oil to keep the costs down and without a guarantee of positive results...I just didn't give it a try. $3 for a months worth of gabapentin looked better.

I used edibles to try to help me stay asleep. The ingredients were specifically intended to help with sleep, but this didn't do anything for me.

I also tried using a topical product for hip-tendon pain. Again, no benefits. Sigh.

I have tried oil, gummies, & capsules; in isolate, full spectrum & broad spectrum. All it did for me was make my wallet lighter.

I used Amitriptyline several years ago and it worked great.....My PCP gave it to me with a warning that it can have undesirable effects on the elderly. Even my Medicare Complete plan refused to cover it because it was not recommended for seniors. I paid out of pocket at Costco. I found that even after a full nights sleep, a half pill had lingering effects.

OMG....I hate to admit I am a "senior".
It makes me feel too damn old.
But the daytime zombie effect from amitryptiline is one of the reasons I decided I didn't want it any more and I was only taking a tiny 10 mg pill at bedtime only.

Cbd oil did nothing. The cold press cbd fluid helped more but was super pricy. Switched to thc/cbd tincture (legal in my state ) and that worked great but had to go find a job since hubby got laid off so I stopped everything. My new job does random so I can't use anything. Too bad, it really helped the arthritis pain in my hands and helped with less wake ups due to pain.

i can remember, in my twenties, my mom was really fighting being called a "senior". used to irritate the crap out of her.

until one day, she discovered senior citizen discounts! then she couldn't get her card out fast enough.

I always tell my wife the reason we get the senior discount is because she's with me.

Indeed.
You know what I hate....to get the senior discount and my hubby isn't with me. That makes smoke come out of my ears.
And to be honest...my hubby is 71 and does not look his age at all. I hate that fact but it's the truth. He gets the Veteran's discount more than anything because of his hat more than anything and I am happy with that. I don't want someone assuming I am a "senior" because of how I look. Inside this 68 year old body there is still a raging smoking hot 28 year old in there somewhere and that's who I want to let out.
And that's why I still go color my hair roots every 3 weeks...I want to have at least the illusion of sort of being 28 again.
I may not be able to do much about my saggy wrinkles but I sure as hell can do something about my white roots.
Now if I had nice pretty white/gray hair like I see some women have...I would wear it proudly but mine...OMG yellow gray and ugly and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. It is NOT a pretty color at all. I tried letting it grow out just to see....talk about scary. My cats and dogs even gave me a sideways look.

CBD oil "might" be an option if the quality were not so wildly variable--
from "this should help" to "no guarantees".
As long as it is unregulated, there is no way to get your money's worth.
--or just plain garbage.

I've tried it for four night and seen no great results, I agree with djont57 in all it did was make my wallet a bunch lighter.
