Just curious if anyone else switches masks every few days to give your nose/face a break ?
I have been on CPAP since March and started with the N20 mask which I have no problem with, but decided to get a Dreamwear nasal mask as an alternate.
(Seemed much more advanced with the hose on top and its minimal mask profile.)
Not sure why, but I can only wear the Dreamwear for 2 to 3 days, then I feel the need to switch back to the N20 for a while. Then at some point I miss the small profile of the DW and switch back.
I usually have a AHI under 1.0 with either mask, so both do their job well, but was wondering if other users "mask swap" or if I am just subconsciously trying to keep my CPAP therapy interesting lol.
Mask Fatigue ?
Re: Mask Fatigue ?
Yes, I do. I haven't really found the perfect mask yet - I've been using CPAP since January. I've tried 5 different styles so far. Some cause pain at the base of my nose, and others feel like they are pressing too hard on my teeth or the top of my nose, and others leak easily. I don't know if everyone has this hard of a time finding a good fit or if I have a "hard to fit" face. I'll keep looking for the perfect mask, but I suspect I'll always have to do some switching, as I think I will probably always go back and forth between needing to breathe through my mouth because my nose is stuffy, and wanting to have the minimal feel of the nasal mask. And like you, I think different parts of my face will need a break from the constant skin contact after a few days, no matter how good the fit.
Re: Mask Fatigue ?
I have never found a reason to switch.

Re: Mask Fatigue ?
I did this in the beginning. I switched back and forth between the same two masks the dreamwear and the N20. As my nose got more used to having a mask and less prone to getting sore spots I stick with the N20. Its just more stable and comfy for me.RAE3928 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2020 10:24 amJust curious if anyone else switches masks every few days to give your nose/face a break ?

Re: Mask Fatigue ?
For at least the first several months, I switched back and forth.
Neither mask was a good choice, but they were differently unpleasant,
giving my face/mouth/nose a break from one to the other.
