Normally I am a side sleeper butI have recently started sleeping on my back because of shoulder problems (being addressed). I use a Circadiance Elan cloth nasal mask (6+ years now) and now am having huge problems with leakage, 20-30+ per minute up from usually well under 10 (per AirSense 10 reports). I still am averaging only 1 or 2 events per hour so all seems OK, but would love to get that leak rate down. Any suggestions???
Thanks all.

Re: Elan mask seal and back sleeping
i have a similar problem. because i spent my youth doing physical labor (warehouseman) and hadn't bothered to learn how to lift properly, i'm now the proud owner of a "bad back". while i'm not by any means in constant pain or anything, it DOES visit me from time to time.lindalrc wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 7:55 amNormally I am a side sleeper butI have recently started sleeping on my back because of shoulder problems (being addressed). like you, my ahi goes up if i sleep on my back. however, it helps to lessen the pain when i sleep on my back! what's a mother to do?
i'm currently going through a bout of back pain, prolly due to stress. but as a hose head of long standing, i know the ahi is going to go up. and i ignore it.
once my back heals, i'll be back to my usual ahi. in fact, i notice that last nights reading is getting back to normal.
you may get all kinds of advice like bumping up your pressure and so forth. but if'n i were you, i'd just ignore it. pretty sure when your shoulder heals and you can get off your back, all will be well again.
good luck!

Re: Elan mask seal and back sleeping
If you are saying that your leak rate is 20-30+ liters per min., you are still getting adequate therapy pressure with your machine. Resmed says above 24lpm is its upper limit, but you still get therapy pressure up around 40ipm before it starts to cause problems.lindalrc wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 7:55 amNormally I am a side sleeper butI have recently started sleeping on my back because of shoulder problems (being addressed). The leaks apparently have not effected your AHI scores. So no problem there.
If the leaks are causing you to wake up or other sleep issues then that is a problem.
I have seen a few posters mention your mask in the past, so maybe someone will see your thread with some tips.

My post will now bump your Thread back to the top.

Back when I was using the Elan there were several Youtube videos about fitting it and what to do about leaks. You might take a look there and see what you can find about leaks and the Elan.
