New Dreamstation or Airsense S10?
I can get either for free on new insurance, not sure which is better. I've happily used Resmed S9 for years. Some reviews say Dreamstation is noisy. Otherwise the only advantage I can see is that Dreamstation will use 12v battery direct, and Airsense will require the $85 DC DC adapter. Any smart opinions would be appreciated.

i'll put my two cents worth in on support of the airsense 10. i had the opportunity to switch from philips to resmed two years ago and have never looked back. why?
because of the algorithm of the resmed. it just seems more "natural" to me. i truly think that my cpap experience improved with the airsense. and remember, it's what you are already used to.
i can't speak to the adapter, so can't help you there.
let's see what the others have to say.

Re: New Dreamstation or Airsense S10?
I have a airsense 10. Wife has a dreamstation.
My airsense was suppose to be quiet. Before i got it, I told the dr I really wanted a dreamstation like the wifes. He said, "no, the airsense is quieter".
I don't know, maybe her pressure is lower than mine or something but her's is WAY quieter than mine.
My high end pressure is only 10 and remains on cpap.
$0.02

I would echo Zonker's post. I went from a Respironics System One series 60 (almost 5 years) to a ResMed Airsense 10 (just under a year now). I feel I sleep better, and my numbers are consistently better. On the forum here, a good number of regulars use and like the Airsense, particularly the 'For Her' model that provides an extra option in therapy. Good luck!
Getting old doesn't make you 'forgetful'. Having too damn many things to remember makes you 'forgetful'.
Re: New Dreamstation or Airsense S10?
No, the DS can't use 12v direct, it needs a specialized 12v cord, which doesn't cost as much as the Resmed 12v cord, though you can get aftermarket cords for the Resmed for about what the DS cord costs.remstarcpap wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2020 9:38 pmOtherwise the only advantage I can see is that Dreamstation will use 12v battery direct, and Airsense will require the $85 DC DC adapter.

Don't just focus on the manufacturer, the model is key. Insist you get an APAP
For ResMed's that's the AirSense 10 AutoSet, or AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her.

Re: New Dreamstation or Airsense S10?
I just switched from Respironics System One Series 60 to an Autoset 10. I have not heard the Dreamstation, but the Autoset 10 is CONSIDERABLY quieter. I had to warn people around me that they won't hear it like they used to. I can barely hear it myself ... my breathing is more audible to me.
And I agree with what someone else said ... I get a better quality of sleep from the Autoset than I did from the Series 60 apap.
I also seem to need a little LESS pressure with it.
YMMV

Sleep loss is a terrible thing. People get grumpy, short-tempered, etc. That happens here even among the generally friendly. Try not to take it personally.

Re: New Dreamstation or Airsense S10?
I have both, started with a Dreamstation (in my case the Travel on) and very recently the ResMed 10 for Her.
I use the same Dreamware full face for both
to me it seems the noise moved between the mask (Dreamstation) to the machine ResMed.
Although i have the ResMed not long enough definite conclusions, i have far less A and HA on ResMed (for Her mode) with a slight increase in Centrals..
Both have exhale pressure relieve, i use 1 (cmH2O) on both, but the ResMed feels more natural...
If' you have an opportunity to try, try both and experience for yourself....
Happy hunting

Chicks definitely dig guys who use an AutoSet for Her. And I can now say, with experience, that guys dig chicks who use an AutoSet for Her.zonker wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 11:21 amyes, but do the chicks dig a man who wears one?Dog Slobber wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 6:09 amDon't just focus on the manufacturer, the model is key.
