Cpap leak problems
Cpap leak problems
Hi I have a mirage fx now and usually with nasal mask I always have leaks in my eyes. I'm now try a full face fisher paykel simplus but I get leaks on the side of my face I tried the airfitf20 but it sucks. It leaks everywhere. I watched this video and this woman said she inflates the cushion to get a better seal. Does this work? Does anyone have any other tips to stop leaks? They say it should be comfortable to work but I see myself really tightening down these masks.

Re: Cpap leak problems
You always should let the mask inflate to properly seal.Never press it tight.... I usually put on the mask and once the pressure is full, I unhook one strap to let it fill with air and then slowly press the cushion to my face and then connect the last strap. I used the Simplus for several years without leaks. I recently switched to the Viterea which is an upgrade to the Simplus.

Re: Cpap leak problems
Every face is different, so what works for me may not work for you.
With the Simplus I always had air blowing up the side of my nose into my eyes. I overcame this by getting a scrap of pyjama fabric, folded it so I had a strip ~100mm long x 25mm wide x 3 layers thick. Draped this over my nose then carefully donned the mask so that the fabric was trapped between the silicone and my skin. Very comfortable and no more leaks.
I've since moved on to the Resmed F20 with memory foam. No leaks at all, but the foam tends to tear where it crosses the nose, so the same scrap of cloth now protects my nose against the torn memory foam.
