Airtouch F20 and liners and leaks

Post by no_more_headaches » Sat May 02, 2020 1:47 pm

I have been using the Resmed Airtouch F20 for a few years now and I swap my padacheek liner once a week or so with a clean backup. It seems like takes a few days or of adjustment because it leaks bad.
Last night my Resemed app gave me a zero score on leaks with a leak rate of 60. It seems by the time that It finally softens enough Its time for a wash.

My padacheek liners were an older mode and so I ordered some of the newer ones with longer straps which are great but the overall leak problem is the same.

Anybody go through this and have suggestions!

Are you using the liners to try to prevent leaks? The foam should be "pretty good" at avoiding leaks since it adjusts to the nooks & crannies of your face. How often are you changing the mask - monthly?

Or are you the competitive sort, and are shooting for a record?
Bragging rights are "sometimes" worth it--sometimes not so much.

I change the cushions monthly. I will try again without the liner.

Lately my leaks are like this:

Starting last Tuesday:
13
23
30
28
23
Change Liner
48
60
38

Huh? I don't understand your comment. Competitive sort?

OK, full face masks are "expected to last 30 days-insurance/Medicare will replace them that often.
Facial chemistry may allow for extended use--or promote early replacement.
Some users try to milk months or even years use out of these products.
Some appear to have their eye on a record.

Chunkyfrog - I'm not being competitive, was just asking the OP a question - how often they change their mask. No judgement, just a question. I didn't even say how often I change my mask and I use the same one. I'm not rude to anyone on here.

I was only kidding about the competiveness--although some do take longevity as a challenge.
I would like to note that some newbies are not aware that the cushions and filters
have a limited lifespan--depending on care, and your skin chemistry;
as others may be led to take the manufacturers' recommendations as gospel.
Adjusting your own replacement schedule based on durability of the interface is best.

Alternatively, you could try cutting some liners out of old cotton t-shirts and see how they work. They should be soft, durable and pliable already. They may not last as long or seat as well on the mask as Pad A Cheek's but, you could give it whirl.
