Talk about a completely useless article from the AASM, of course, that's not surprising.

This report(?) is not worth the paper it is written on. All it's doing is repeating what we see on TV every hour of every day.

SHAKING MY HEAD
Hell no. I will NOT stop using my cpap.
Can we have the name of the author of this ridiculous article?
I would like to send him a box of used kitty litter.
Just to express my appreciation.

If we could just get the true facts about the best way to deal with this virus, instead of the self centered second guessing 24/7, it could be engraved on the head of a pin,

HOW?!
Exhaling alone has an equal ability to expel infective particles.
As I see it, the AASM would like us to STOP BREATHING.
Obviously they never got the memo--or took the oath.

If I had COVID 19 the little bit of my exhaled breath when using cpap would be last problem relating to me that anyone in my house would be having. What about my exhaled breath the other hours while awake? What about my coughing up my lungs the other hours while awake?

The lack of common sense amongst the medical community continues to amaze me.

It would seem that the AASM is even better at social distancing than Bigfoot.

And like so many clickbait subjects, this one is wrong.

Theoretically speaking, a venting mask from a pressurized system could spread virus in aerosol/droplet form in a larger area, such as when a sick patient coughs or sneezes into a vented CPAP mask. Also, someone with the virus who is not using CPAP can more effectively utilize a simple form of containment mask placed over the mouth and nose that, unlike a CPAP mask, is designed to contain respiratory droplets from coughs and sneezes and breathing during sleep, whereas someone using PAP cannot as effectively do so. This factor could be considered by some to be significant enough to be mentioned by the AASM, although it seems to me at this point that extended close exposure in the home to someone with the virus is likely to result in transmission either way.

Actually, a full-face mask might reduce the velocity of droplets expelled during coughs.
Any mask would capture some of the products of sneezing, for a while, at least.
Maybe the desk docs are concentrating on the exposure to whoever has to clean the mask.
Nawwww, not a chance.
