Any suggestions on new mask?

Post by acidragon » Mon Mar 09, 2020 2:43 pm

Hey everyone, havent been on this site for a while now but recently I had to switch vendors. Currently I have the airsense 10 autoset and using the swift fx pillows. For a while the pillows worked great once I took the swivel off of a nano headset. But since I'm changing vendors and looking online I see a lot has changed and some nights the swift fx is not comfortable. Any suggestions on a new pillow mask? Thanks! Is pugsy still around? I remember she was a huge help on this site.

I am still hanging around.

If you like the Swift FX....take a look at the ResMed AirFit P10. Reminds me a lot of the Swift FX but improved.
Venting is silent and the headgear is non existent essentially compared the the Swift FX.

Or really go wild with my current no headgear at all mask....see the link in my equipment profile.

There's lots of new nasal pillow and nasal cushion masks out there now.
Some even have the hose attaching at the top of the head.

Pugsy I was the one who sent you the provent samples that we both hated years ago lol. I think ill try the airfit p30i and see if the top connection will make it easier to wear.

Hopefully you will have better luck with the P30i than I had. I experienced really bad Darth Vadar noise with it so bad I really never even tried to sleep with it....
But not everyone is complaining of it so maybe you won't have it.

And yes...I do remember the Provent experiment. Horrid little thing it was.

I use the P30i. Even though I have a head size that says medium or large, the small headgear actually made that mask seal better. Just something to know in case you get one. I LOVE a top mount hose, but know that there is more noise with these type ( both P30i, N30i, and the Dreamwear series ) than with a front mounted hose type. Especially noticeable at first, and even more obvious when you first put it on and are breathing a bit heavier than you are in sleep pattern.

If you are ok with the front mounted hose, then the P10 Pugsy recommended is very, very hard to beat.

I have the P30i too, and like it quite well. As a caveat, I'm a newbie; just started using an APAP at the very end of 2019. I first had a Dreamwear full face mask, but began to wonder if I actually need a full face. My husband had a spare nasal mask which I used a couple of nights. It had a front hose which I did not like, but I learned that I don't need a full face mask. Then I got the P30i, and like it better than the full face or my hubby's nasal mask.

As to the sound, I always run a humidifier near the bed due to sinus problems plus living in dry Colorado. One night I forgot to turn the humidifier on, and wondered why everything seemed so noisy. As long as I use the humidifier I don't really notice noise from the mask.

I hope you are happy with whatever you end up ordering!
