Nasal pillow blowin' up my nose.

Post by nee » Sat Feb 22, 2020 6:32 pm

So I've realized that, one big reason my Bleep doesn't work for me too well is because my nose blows up REALLY wide under air pressure, and the adhesive starts coming off.

If I use my thumb and index finger to lightly pinch my nose, it feels much better. Is there a product or workaround nose pincher that any of you know of?

I looked into the swimmers' nose clips, but those pinch your nose completely shut. I'm looking for something adjustable.

Thanks!

Sorry, don't mean to make light of your problem. Getting CPAP to work is difficult for some people.

Some people swear by BLEEP, but I don't see the appeal of it. There are so many other good nasal masks.

Could practice building up you nose, Go out driving on the highway at high speed with your dog, let him drive, Hang your head out of the open window, the flapping and wind will build you up.

Your dog swears it works wonders for him, the drooling can be a problem. Jim

I read in another thread you were going to try the F30i tonight.

The best part of the F30i is the way it wraps around the nose. It inflates and is shaped to slightly pinch around the front and sides of the nose. That part of it is very comfortable for me.
Have to fiddle with it some to get it just right.

Hose connection on top is nice too.

The worst part of the F30i is it is bigger and bulker, like a small Full Face mask, more straps and accoutrements.

Hope it works for you.

I wonder if, somehow, the Bleep is triggering nasal valve collapse.

I find using the bleep mask the pressure causes my nostrils to widen due to the splinting effect if the air but it does not cause the Bleep to become unstuck. My biggest issue is 3-4 days of hair growth in my moustache area if I shave every 2-3 days it’s fine

I have to add 3m micropore paper tape to the outside edges of the Bleep adhesive to make it leak-proof all night. I do this because 1) I have an odd nose and 2) because Bleep is the most effective way to transmit the pressure to your breathing pathway. If it were not I wouldn't make the effort.

Having said that, I'm starting to think it's kind of an advanced product, not for novice xPAPers.

I get the same amount of air up my nose with the Bleep or the P10 or any other nasal pillow mask.
Haven't noticed in greater amount of expansion of the nostrils but if I can remember tonight I will do an experiment with the P10, the Bleep and a mirror while using my machine.

Some folks eventually resemble their pets.
I doubt this is the case here, but it is fun to imagine.

I have a similar problem but mine is oils at the base of my nose. I use a water proof surgical tape to help my product seal.

I would try "Breath Right" strips. Yes, they expand the nostril, but also they would stabilize it some. Might keep the tape in place better.

Well...I did the mirror and tested both the Bleep and the P10 to see if I could spot much inflation of my nostrils.
Pressures 8 inhale and 4 exhale to start the night.

I couldn't see any real inflation with either and I used a magnifying mirror.
