Recent Power outage experience

Post by billbolton » Tue Feb 11, 2020 5:52 pm

We recently had a power outage due to the remarkable weather Sydney has been experiencing recently - bushfires to violent storms within one week.

My wife and I both normally use Resmed A10 devices but we also have Resmed AirMinis for travel. During the power outage we both switched to our AirMinis.

I set my wife up with a Medistrom Pilot 24 battery that I use while travelling, while I used a big AGM deep discharge battery I had originally bought to support my Resmed S9 several years ago, together with the AirMIni 12v adapter that I bought during the Christmas sales. It took about half an hour to set up, with most of that time consumed with moving the heavy AGM battery.

Both setups work very well. The Pilot 24 dropped by ~25% capacity per night, with the AGM battery dropped by ~10% per night. I'm really glad we had the kit we needed on hand to continue our xPAP therapy, as our fridge did not come on again after the 3 day outage. So, we needed to be at top of our game to concurrently negotiate with both our home insurer and an appliance retailer to get a new fridge delivered and installed today.

Do you know the difference in size/weight/capacity between the Pilot24 and the Pilot24lite?
Using the Pilot24lite I could only get about 1.5 nights on my AirMini (And I know I was not the Aussie atmosphere as I was getting these 1.5 nights sailing in the Whitsundays at the exact time you were sans power....)
