Hi, I'm new to this and I'm having some problems as I keep waking up throughout the night. Hoping to get some advice.
Loud crackling noise wakes me and my partner up half way though the night if humidifier setting is higher than 1 so I've ordered a sleeve to cover the pipe to see if that works as on setting 1 I still have dry mouth.
I wake up randomly because air is too much, hard to explain but my checks balloon and then I get bloated and with having IBS it takes at least 15 minutes to get rid of the pain by passing wind.
I'm a mouth breather and wear a full face mask. I've told the hospital my problems and if there was too much pressure for me but they weren't interested and said they won't be reducing it. They said I need about 11 pressure looking at my results from usage but when I wake up due to swallowing air etc I notice the number is on 14-15

Re: Newbie having problems
welcome to the zoo! i have no idea what the loud cracking noise could be. it doesn't sound like something is working properly, though. if you could, please fill out your equipment profile so that we can see what machine and mask you are using. we don't all use the same equipment and the answer to your problems may lie in which machine and mask you have.Jamesvx wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2020 10:40 amHi, I'm new to this and I'm having some problems as I keep waking up throughout the night. aerophagia is unfortunately a common side effect of cpap usage. i know my own was very painful. i'm quite sensitive to it, but have built up a tolerance to it. eventually, i got to where i am now with a minimum pressure of 15.4 and a max pressure of 20.
i don't even know if you are on a fixed pressure or not, but i assume no because of your mention of 11 then 14-15.
so give us the info we need to help you out. tell us the machine, the mask and the pressure settings. see the links in my sig below to get some more info, particularly the "newbie" thread.
oh! and are you using any software to track your cpap data?
good luck!

Re: Newbie having problems
Sounds like water in the hose or mask.
See posts number 3 and 4 for various options.

For the gas in the belly issues...sounds like aerophagia

First thing we always suggest is add in maximum exhale relief to see if that helps or not.

Re: Newbie having problems
Is it possible that the cracking you hear is the valve opening/closing on your connector piece to the mask? Took me a little while to figure it out too. I hear mine from time to time and its definately audible.

Re: Newbie having problems
Until you get more help from anywhere, I would not be afraid to lower your pressure by at least one cm if it'll help your pain/IBS etc at least temporarily and try the exhalation relief at whatever setting feels best.
