Sorry, i am confused on the encore pro stuff

Post by cletourn » Thu Mar 01, 2007 6:13 pm

Hi all,

I just got my RemStarPRO M Series cpap machine and was wondering if the Encore Pro software would be a good investment for me. Does this software work with my model? (I notice a lot of other people using the software have the "auto" machine) I really want to know what is happening to me at night but I am not sure if the machine I got will provide me with useful info. I read all the literature but I am still confused as to whether the software works with this machine or not and what data I will get back from it. It does have the card inserted into the back. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would say yes. From what I remember reading about the PRO M that it will give more than compliance data, that you'll actually be able to track your AHI data using Encore Pro

Yes, it works with the Pro machine which you have listed. The only real advantage of the auto machine compared with your machine is, well . . ., the "auto" function. The "auto" function is useful in case you want to retitrate yourself, for instance. Having an "auto" machine is also therapeutically beneficial for a few of us for other reasons.

According to what I see on CPAP.com, your machine provides the full complement of data for Encore Pro. Since you want to know the details about your therapy, Encore Pro is the way to accomplish that. From what you say, Encore Pro would be a good investment for you. I doubt that you would ever regret getting the software. Be sure you get the matching card reader.

Bill

Not sure what I like better--The encore software or Mr. Skinner's interface--I seem to learn something everyday. I was on the fence on the software but took the plunge--I am very happy to have done so.

To head off potential confusion, I'll just add that Mr. Skinner's software is not a stand-alone program. It depends upon the Encore Pro database and so cannot run without Encore Pro.

Since EPA is free I just use both. Problem solved.

To reiterate NightHawkeye's message.....you STILL need the Encore Pro program to download the information from the SmartCard. That's the ONLY way you can get the data from the card. Then the MyEncore and Encore Pro Analyzer can read the Encore Pro database to reformulate the information into helpful graphs.

And be SURE to follow the instructions on how to install the Windows registry patch such that your card isn't erased by default by Encore Pro. This bit me.
