New Rule

Post by forumadmin » Thu Mar 01, 2007 3:56 pm

Howdy,

No polls asking if you should shoot yourself are are allowed on the forum. Don't post the polls and please do not shoot yourself. If you have a serious problem, call me and I'd be glad to help you, if you are joking, don't. Suicide is never funny.

Johnny

Good Rule! (but sad when you need to make rules that should fall under common sense)

Thanks for running a great site!

Good one, Rabid1!

But you'd be opening up the whole "premeditation" and "conspiracy to commit" thing... Nasty stuff, that.

BTW, I've only been to the local DME once and I can already understand the frustration

I withdrew my order and came straight home and ordered from cpap.com

Sorry, Eric, but I'm not buying it. Should I "Shut" myself? I know your english is bad, but that doesn't even come close to believable.

Sleepless_in_LM, I believe maybe his intent with the poll was to ask if he should SHUT-UP, or something like that.

Regards,
Bill

I read the original poll. It was quite clear. It is also quite clear to me that Eric is looking for attention, and not trying to add anything worth while. His last "pool" caused plenty of problems and I applaud Johnny for jumping on this one before it got out of hand.

This, of course, is just my .$02 worth.

Your .$02 worth is spot-on. I, for one, am sick of this immature twit.

Rabid1 and Sleepless-in-LM, you covered it well....and I agree.

Johnny, EricF does indeed have a problem, but I don't think the problem is wanting to "shot" himself!

I didn't see the original poll, and I think Johnny is doing the right thing.

On the other hand, though, I should point out that sick as it may sound, sometimes joking about hurting yourself (at least for me) in a weird way makes it so you don't feel like you have to actually DO it.

I know it's not healthy, but sometimes when I'm at my lowest black point in a depression, faking happy for my co-workers' benefit, a joke or two about banging my head against the wall or slamming my hand in a door or other forms of self-torture takes just the barest hint of the edge off and helps me not do any of those things (or more drastic things) for real.

Which is not to say that that necessarily applies in this case, or indeed in all cases of actual depression. I definitely think Johnny's rule is the right thing, and I applaud him for taking the extra step and offering to help someone who needs it rather than simply creating a new rule banning one behavior or another.

But the thoughts ran through my head so I thought I'd share.

Liam, who has only ever shot himself with allergy shots, and that was bad enough.

Liam, what you wrote is true, but words can be perceived entirely different when something is said face to face vs in writing. I obviously am one person who has no idea when Eric is joking -- and I do have a sense of humor.
