Do Auto CPAP DreamStation ever Fail?

Post by Golf016 » Fri Dec 27, 2019 6:33 am

For the past few months I have been getting average AHI reading of .40 and a few .00, do these machines ever stop showing reading's.

I have been using this machine for about 32 months and up to the past few months I had a reading in the range of 1.00

The only change in the past few months is that I stopped drinking alcohol.

Just wondering if this is real progress or the machine is giving me false numbers, I don't feel tired but I do take a short 15 min nap sometimes around 1 pm.

Do these machine need to be tested after a few years?

Generally these machines last 5yrs no testing needed

Failure of type described is uncommon, but I guess possible.

Try "My Provider" > "Click to Check" to run diagnostics.

I tried that, under "Performance" it did a series of things then listed a bunch of numbers, no words, nothing indicating "error" or "Fail"

Are you using software to download your data? If not, get it and use it.
That way, you can (could have) review(ed) any progression of degradation of data over time.

It's not impossible but unlikely that it has happened.

Most things do fail, but CPAPs USUALLY either work, or just quit working, failing their internal self tests.

Alcohol does affect the quality of sleep, so yeah, that could explain it. You *might* need less pressure now, too, but if you're comfortable with what you've got, stick with it..

You CAN load up your data in Oscar, and zoom in and look at all your breathing all night long if you want to confirm that you're not actually stopping breathing for 10 seconds or more.

The numbers allow entering them into encore pro to get basic stats from the machine it has nothing to do with testing. DH had that wrong
