Nasal pillow mask and side sleepers

Post by acctingman » Thu Dec 19, 2019 8:44 am

Hello

Anyone here a nasal pillow wearer and able to sleep on their side? If so, what mast are you using? I have the Swift FX and I've tried sleeping on my side, but the mask moves around a bit. I've been a back sleeper for some time now, but I'm getting post nasal drip and it's affecting my lungs.

Thanks

I’m new at this myself (about 6 weeks) and started out using the nasal mask (not pillows). I found the nasal mask to be difficult for leaks as a side sleeper. I’ve just started experimenting with a full face mask and while its still early, for me that seems to be better.

10 years using a nasal pillow mask of some sort and I primarily sleep on my side or even sometimes on my stomach.
I have used the Swift FX, the P10, the Tap Pap and now the Bleep.

Side sleeper. I use the N20 with the dreamwear as my backup mask. Both nasal masks.

Side sleeper.
I currently use the P10. No problem.
Have used the F&P Brevida. No problem.

Tons of people use pillows and sleep in all positions, including me (P10)

If the pillow mashes the mask out of place, sleep towards the edge of the pillow.

I use a dreamwear nasal pillow mask. I've found the trick is to start off with your face angled toward your pillow and once your head is on the pillow, turn it so your face is parallel with the pillow. I hope that makes sense lol. This way you end up in a position where you're slightly pulling the mask tighter as opposed to pushing it away from your face. It's kind of hard to put into words.

I'm a side-sleeper and have used the P10 and the Aloha nasal pillow masks. The Aloha stays put better, though it has some drawbacks too. One thought is to try using a different bed pillow, perhaps one that is flatter, firmer, or both.

SIde sleeper - use the p30i.
Also Therapedic® Classic Contour Side/Back Sleeper Memory Foam Pillow ended up working better for me then the CPAPMAX CPAP BED PILLOW 2.0.
I turn over a lot.

Some otherwise "perfect" bed pillows can sabotage your cpap therapy.

Forgot to mention that I have to wear a chinstrap as I tend to be a mouth breather. Full face masks won't work due to my claustrophobic issues.

Thanks for all the reply's.

Side sleeper using the Swift FX. Works for me. Within limits -- I do end up repositioning a lot when I'm trying to fall asleep.

I am a truly long-time CPAP patient (nearly 33 years now) always as a sidesleeper. For the past many years I have worn the Res-Med Activa nasal cushion mask . Like one of the other posters, I sleep with my face extending slightly off the left side of my bed pillow, and I only rarely experience any leakage problems. I have never tried using a nasal pillow mask nor a full-face mask.
