I had the same new pain experience, back, side stiffness waking up, in my case I believe it was caused by me now sleeping in a new position sleeping on my back, when before I was a side sleeper, had to change to back sleeping due to the mask being dislodged If the mask hit the pillow, you do get use to the change and eventually overcome all these new intrusions of your old established sleep habits. hang in there read the different posts on this forum, we are all listening to others problems, and some of the members will have an answer to help you along.

I wake with back pain every day. It is because I sleep with out moving around all night. I used to toss and turn all night. Since starting treatment, I wake up in the same position I went to sleep in most of the time.

Some also find that they move a lot less when they sleep with CPAP because they're no longer suffocating (and then struggling) while they sleep.

It might help to look into getting a new mattress.

I agree with the posters that say it's probably due to a lack of movement at night. I've been stiff in the morning ever since the night I was titrated a year ago. I'm less stiff now but I'll take a bit of morning stiffness for the extraordinary improvement I've experienced in just about every other aspect of my life.

Good luck!

Hi Kelly,

Same here. It's probably because you're not moving around as much, therefore lying in one position for most of the night. If that's what's causing your pain, it's actually a good sign! I solved it by buying a softer mattress.

Good luck
