Could my CPAP be causing Central Apneas?
Based on the statistics of my therapy it looks like over 70% of my reported AHI is consistently coming from Clear Airway events. Could it be causing Central Apneas?
I use the resmed autosense 10 for her.

Welcome to the forum.
You aren't having enough central apneas to worry about. It's normal to have an occasional central apnea anyway. Everyone can have them.
Some might be real asleep and rare apnea and some might be transitional or sleep onset centrals (which are normal to have).
You would/could have them even if you didn't use cpap.

That's one of the hazards of paying attention to percentages.night_rainbow1 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2019 6:38 pmBased on the statistics of my therapy it looks like over 70% of my reported AHI is consistently coming from Clear Airway events. Could it be causing Central Apneas?

70% of 1.6 is nothing.
70% of 60 would be quite worrying.

Thanks! I was worried because I haven't found the CPAP has made any difference.. and I actually am waking up with worse headaches and feel just as tired throughout the day.
Re: Could my CPAP be causing Central Apneas?
How's your sleep quality in general? Waking up during the night a lot or sleeping soundly for the post part?
Any chance you might have some cervical spine arthritis kind of stuff going on? I found that my old arthritic neck was a significant factor in waking up with morning headaches.
Sleep apnea can cause some headaches but of course not the only cause of headaches.
Does your headache fade as the day goes on or pretty much stay with you all day?

Re: Could my CPAP be causing Central Apneas?
I'd say it feels like I get a decent sleep (8-9 hours most nights) mostly uninterrupted, occasionally 1 or 2 times a night I remember waking up. But still very tired throughout the day (like I could fall asleep at my desk with ease and have no energy to work) and it used to be that my headaches would disappear after an hour or two of waking up but I'm finding them sticking around longer and longer recently.
I don't fit the typical profile of someone with SA. I'm 27 male, fit and not overweight. I know this doesn't mean I don't have bad anatomy but just trying to figure out if there could be something else I'm missing.

It could be that it'll just take some more time for you to start feeling better. That's not unusual. But if you'd like to dig deeper, you might try downloading Oscar:
https://www.sleepfiles.com/OSCAR/
and posting a Daily chart or two so the experts can take a look and see if they spot any need for tweaks.

Re: Could my CPAP be causing Central Apneas?
Thanks! I have OSCAR downloaded already. Can I just post post some charts without any specific questions regarding them? I would think the experts on the discussion boards would only be able to help if I was looking for something in particular from the charts? I also use an auto PAP which doesn't typically max out the pressure it uses, so is there really much tweaking I can do? Appreciate the help.Miss Emerita wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2019 10:58 amIt could be that it'll just take some more time for you to start feeling better. That's not unusual. Just do that. Only, substitute 'Oscar' everywhere you see 'sleepyhead'

You are feeling tired, so you are trying to figure out whether there are ways to optimize your treatment.
