Weird CA graph and mask struggling

Post by okolo3 » Sun Nov 03, 2019 6:19 am

Hi,

I am new CPAP user. I got my device 2 weeks ago. I was diagnosed with AHI 28 and 32 (2 measument). I am woman, 27 years old. Height: 163 cm, weight: 139. I accept the fact that I sleep with "something" on my face. I am truly ok with mask. Over time my result are worse. I have fixes pressure 7,4, set by my doc.

I am not sure my mask fit well. I have Resmed N30i. I tried 3 different mask and choose this as best. During first week everything was fine. I had some leaks. I woke up evety 1,5 hours, but I took it as part of my journey to sleep all night long. But now I am not sure if I have right size/mask. I am active sleeper.I usually woke up with need to fit the mask. I have cushion size S. I feel that it is not great, but size M is worse. With M I feel that I can breath enough air. With S the air is "restricted". During the night I sometimes wake up in the middle of apnea and need to breathe myself. I am not even sure if my pressure is set well. I have doc appointment, but it will in January.:( I feel very exhausted. I have runny nose and I am full of phlegm. Of course I use humidity and heated tud (both set to AUTO mode), but nothing happen. I am confused because no one answer can my questions.:/

Three days ago I saw someting weird on my grap. I attach screens. It is at the end of my sleep. I am not sure but I think that I have bad quality sleep during these CA events. I felt like I was awake every 5 minutes and feel urges to fit mask. Do you have idea what is it?

Thanks

Are you sure you need as much humidity (if any at all) as you're using? Have you tried a lower setting to see if you can clear up your nose? Humidity is for personal comfort, not a mandatory part of therapy and if your local weather is damp, or you live near water, you may not need it all, or only sometimes.

Your runny nose may or may not be related to your humidity setting.
Some people need more humidity and some people need less.
Google "cpap rhinitis" and read about it. Your Auto setting is a relatively middle of the road setting..equal to about a 4 or 5 out of 8 being the highest humidity setting.
So you might try changing to manual humidity and trying more or less humidity and see if it helps with the runny nose or not.

If you think you are likely awake when those CAs/centrals get flagged at the end of the night (or other times when you know you weren't asleep) it's very possible that your machine is flagging awake breathing irregularities and they don't mean anything except you were awake.
Awake flagged events simply don't count and are to be ignored.
You need to be asleep before anything flagged matters.
Go here and watch the videos. They show how to zoom in on the flow rate so you can learn how to distinguish between awake flagged events and asleep flagged events.
