Mask slipping off.

Post by kathy2407 » Sat Nov 02, 2019 6:33 pm

I have a N30i nasal mask. I've been having many problems but my physician has helped alot. My DME is useless. Last night I slept very well and was comfortable, but I woke up with air blowing on top of my head. My mask had fallen off . I got up and I checked online to see how things had gone and everything was perfect. So why did my mask slide up and how do I fix this? Was it too loose? I had finally got it comfortable. I have had it too tight and got headaches, so thought I had it right. Any help will be appreciated.

You have slippery hair?

Have you tried pinning the straps to your hair?

Have you looked at the huge variety of masks available out there (diff. designs) such as those on Cpap.com (sponsor of this forum who I do not have any personal connection to)?

I had this problem: the headgear/velcro strap across the back of the head slipping about because of my hair. Respironics has a headgear with a rigid arm. I don't know how to post a link to it here, but the item no. is 111675. Google for 'headgear with arms'. My mask is more or less the same as yours but Respironics, so I believe it will fit. It solved the slippage problem for me. Better yet, I think, is that the arm itself hooks onto the mask so you don't have to fiddle with the velcro all the time.

That's the thing though, isn't it: most of the people that found the tape to be a solution were men, so not much hair at the back of the head for the strap to slip about on.

Maybe repositioning the hose would help.

Here is another one. Grace has her solution. Her Dreamware nasal is a similar setup to the N30i.
Maybe give you an idea?

I have my own, I use a Cabeau midnight magic eye mask, I use a strap with velcro to connect the back of the Dreamwear to the the Midnight Magic strap, keeps it in place.

The one, make that two, things that worked for me was velcro (hook side)
on the inside back of the headgear, and a PERM.
Time for new curls!
