Question....

Post by Gryhnd » Sat Nov 02, 2019 2:24 pm

Do I have to change the time on my CPAP machine tonight? Don’t mean to sound stupid.... I have to change the time on the stove, microwave & cuckoo clock!

If you want to you can I don’t bother, I am more interested in the sleep duration not the start and end time

Probably not.

But some people like to.

Reasons to change the time:
  • If you use OSCAR and want your CPAP data sync'ed with other devices such as O2
  • If you use OSCAR and you are trying to work on wake-ups, you can look at the wall clock time and more easily find potential events in your graphs.
  • If you typically get up at or near the noon time and you don't want the ResMed (noon to noon) day interfering with your MyAir or other Software.
  • The clocks in these devices may drift, this is a good opportunity to fix any drift that may have occurred.
  • If you just like to know it's representing the time and date correctly

Should you want to change it:
  • ResMeds can be awkward to change back.
  • You can't change it into a previous ResMed Day, this means change it spanning noon.
  • You can't change it into a time frame where there is data.
  • You therefore must wait, after turning it off, for at least the length of time you want to set it back by.
  • It's easier to to wait till bedtime to change it.

I set it 50/50.
Half an hour late part of the year; half an hour early the rest of the year.
Then I simply ignore the time.
I only use the screen for my data--less now than before.
I let my sleep doc do all the geeking out.
(Once I got him hooked--my job was done.)

I never bothered to change ours last spring, so after tonight they will be right. I don;t really care what time the thing shows, I am only interested the hours slept and the AHI.

You might want to, but it really won't affect your therapy. Generally speaking, the "night" runs from noon till noon (i.e Thursday morning prior to noon is treated like Wednesday night). An 11 AM or 1 PM cutoff shouldn't have much effect.

Should change itself, based on the cellular time.

As a severe night owl, I sleep past noon most days anyway. So, I have my machine's time set so that noon is at 3 or 4pm (depending on the time of year). I don't care that it is wrong. If I need to check data and care what time something happened, I know to adjust the time by 3-4 hours.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

Maybe it should but it does not so if you want correct time you need to do something about it
