Mask ?

Post by yoflow » Sun Oct 13, 2019 11:31 am

Hello,
I have central sleep apnea and need a full face mask that does not go on the bridge of my nose. I need pretty high pressures, at times. The F30 was recommended. Have any of you used it? Any other suggestions?
I use a Resmed machine. Thankk you.

I would suggest looking into the "hybrid" masks. (or even a total face mask)

What machine are you using and what are your set pressures?

I use the F30 with average pressures ranging from 11-15 almost every night. I have very few leaks. I am side sleeper. I do rotate maybe once every two weeks to the F20 Air touch if my allergies get too bad. Even when I try other masks, i always come back to the F30.

I primarily use the P30i now, but the F30 helped me transition to using nasal pillows only. It can be a little finicky to get adjusted right, but works great once it is. The secrets are keeping the strap tension balanced, but not too tight. Let the air pressure expand the silicone and form the seal. The F30 is still my primary backup if my sinuses are totally blocked or if I lose power or for whatever reason use the battery and can’t use the humidifier (happened a week ago).

The F20 medium is too small for me, and large is too big. I can’t tolerate pressure on the bridge or sides of my nose though, so large is my only option. It moves the contact area on my nose higher, which helps some. That’s why I’m mentioning it. I have to keep the straps pretty tight to use it though, which isn’t ideal. I plan to try padacheek liners with it. This would be my choice if I was in the hospital (easiest for someone else to put on me passably well), but for me it is more finicky than the F30.

I absolutely love my F30, was a game changer for me. After coming back to therapy after a long break, I tried the AirTouch20 at the recommendation of the sleep tech, and it was fine, though a little cumbersome. I tried the F30 after listening to some YouTube reviews, ordered one knowing I could send it back if needed, after two days in I knew it was the right one for me. My pressures are higher 16-22 (PS of 4) and rarely ever have leaks, the doctor was actually floored by the lack of leaking.

Once you get past the initial fitting of the mask, you won’t look back. There is a great video available on YouTube as to how to best set all the straps.

Good luck!

Thanks all for the replies. I have a loaner now, a ResMed aircurve 10. I have BC/BS and they won't replace my old (5 years+) ResMed unless they can't fix it, it's been making strange noises. I like the aircurve 10 but my nose skin is breaking down, so I need a new mask system My pressures go over 20. I have very dry eyes so the whole face mask might not be suitable for me. My sleep doctor is retiring next month and I am trying to get an Rx so I can get a new mask.
