Need Airsense 10 connector to Respironics Battery Kit

Post by cinco777 » Wed Oct 09, 2019 10:42 pm

I replaced my Respironics Auto CPAP with a Resmed Airsense 10. For power outages, I would like to use my Respironics Battery Kit to power my Airsense 10. The Airsense 10 has a different sized power input than my Respironics Auto CPAP. I would like to know what I need to connect my Battery Kit to my Airsense 10. I need a DC cord with a cigarette lighter adapter end and a DC power connector end that will plug into my Airsense 10, or just a connector that will adapt/bridge the two different connector ends. Thanks for your assistance. I have been using CPAP for 10 years.

The airsense 10 takes 24v and has a power converter to boost 12v from a battery to 24v. so you'll need to start by getting one of those. There's the official one, and then some aftermarket ones on amazon.

Thanks palerider for answering quickly and pointing me to Amazon. I ordered a DC cable ($36 with tax) from Amazon Prime with delivery on Friday.

It looks to me like you are going backwards, I'd use the old machine for me outage backup. It uses 12 volts, and wastes less power. Jim

Please explain how "getting better sleep, even on battery" is "going backwards"

No need too, as that wasn't what I addressed. I addressed Resmed's power choice as being poor and less than being power friendly, (A Hog).

Due to their CORP choice to control marketing, I will not buy their products. I am sure I wouldn't want my XPAP pushing the auto pressure very fast, I have learned that a 3 cm pressure range works nicely for me. Jim

Good for you, it doesn't, however, work for a whole lot of other people, something you fail to understand.

I received my 12V-24V Universal Vehicle Charger from Amazon on 10/11/19: KFD in Car Charger DC Adapter for Resmed S10 Series,ResMed Airsense 10 Air Sense S10 AirCurve 10 Series CPAP and BiPAP Machines, 90W Resmed S10 370001 Replacement Power Supply Cord Cable Charger. Cost including CA sales tax was $35.92.

I hooked up my fully charged Respironics Battery Kit (purchased 2011) and ran my Airsense 10 w/o Humidifier for an hour before disconnecting the battery. When we have a power outage at night, it will get a full test. My Respironics Battery Kit is rated at 14.4 AH with maximum output power of 35W. Does someone know how to calculate how many hours my Airsense 10 w/o humidifier will run on this fully charged battery? Thanks.

Last night I used my Kill A Watt EZ meter to measure the watts used by my Airsense 10 with Humidifier at level 5. It measured 0.28 KWH or 280 watts in 8h26m = 33.2 watts/hr, = 33.2W/24V = 1.38 amps/hr. For my 14.4 AH battery, this amp deaw/hr equals 10.4 hours with my humidifier on (level 5).

PG&E predicts up to 5 days to restore power following one of their premptive power shut offs so I will likely buy a 100AH Deep Cycle Marine battery that would power my Airsense 10 with humidifier for 72 hours or 8 nights at my max usage of 8 1/2 hours/night. When not in use, I will unhook my Airsense 10 from the battery,

Unless you're going to be on a boat, *do not get* a "marine" battery. You'll be paying for heavier construction that you do not need.

Deep cycle yes, marine, NO.
