2 months in...

Hi there,
New here and new to cpap therapy. My therapy numbers have been great without too many bumps. But.. about a month ago i started getting a sore spot where my cushion sits. It would go away mid morning. But now it isnt going away and i have a full fledged sore on my face. Im not liking having it there. I called my supply company, and because my insurance wont cover anymore supplies for a month she said to try different sizes cushions in my pack. I tried the L cushion and today my sore is worse than ever.
Ive been researching other options and paying out of pocket. But im so overwhelmed! Im pretty set on my tube being at tge top of my head, but otger than that..im flexible.
Any advice?

If you wish to stick with the hose on top of your head, you could try nasal pillows. You would not need to buy a new mask frame, just purchase the nasal pillows only & switch out your current nasal cushion with the nasal pillows. Once insurance pays again, you can try the Resmed N30i or P30i.

If you are not opposed to trying a nasal mask with the hose on the nose, Resmed P10 and N20 are popular, but there are many other nasal masks on the market if you think you can tolerate the "hose nose".

Actually I think a new frame and new headgear are needed to use the DreamWear gel pillows or the under the nose cushion.
If you look at the DreamWisp Frame and headgear it isn't the same as the other DreamWear frames and headgear.
Different connection points.

I don't think the DreamWisp parts will work with the other DreamWear products.
I went to cpap.com and looked at the various parts and are just too different.

I am a fan of nasal pillows, but I have never used anything else. In fact my ResMed P10 head gear is all I've ever used. Comfort is just never an issue for me with the P10. When I turn over I'm just used to managing the hose I guess. Keep at it and good luck.

Finding the right mask really is the hardest part of the therapy and IMO, DEM suppliers amd insurance companies suck!

I went through several masks in the begining before I found the perfect one for me and everyone is different.

Forget the DMEs and insurance and get your masks through the forum host https://www.cpap.com/

They offer free shipping and return insurance for most masks and that is the fastest way to get to your perfect mask.

Hope it all works out for you sooner rather than later.

sorry, my bad. I didn't notice it said DreamWISP. . Yep, will have to get all new headgear for dreamwear anything . sorry about that. but, worth trying dreamwear nasal cushion or pillows. Or Resmed N30i or P30i. I would start with Dreamwear regular nasal cushion as that is very comfortable for most people, me included.

I just looked at your mask at cpap.com. The mask hits your nose lower than a full face mask. Try putting a strip of moleskin on the area the mask hits your nose. I buy a pack of three sheets at Walmart for $1.87. It's in the foot care section. Cut little squares from each sheet. In your case, place a band aid on the sore spot, then put the moleskin over it. I do the same thing. This particular brand of moleskin has very strong adhesive and removing it takes skin off.

Hope it helps,

Sheriff
