Chin Strap That Actually Works

Post by WindCpap » Fri Sep 27, 2019 11:09 am

I hope this doesn't violate the rules, but for the last few months, I have been struggling to find a solution for my mouth popping open (something that has only happened since I lost weight), and I finally came up with a solution that works. My mouth leaks are now zero, the new chin strap stays in place, and it is not at all uncomfortable. I have tried several strategies including mouth tape and nothing as worked until now. Anyway, I am posting the link for the amazon.ca offering. I am not sure if this can be purchased in the US, and you kind of need to ignore all of the ant-snoring and increased restfulness claims.

you aren't breaking any rules that i'm aware of.

and i like the looks of that. it pretty much follows the form factor of the scunci headbands i use, except no mouth covering.

i take it that you can pop it in the wash and shrink it back down once it starts to get a bit loose?
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

If it turns out to be a winner, our forum hosts may want to carry it.

My solution is to try a soft cervical collar. Chin straps tend to pull your jaw backwards and this can compromise breathing.

I have never tried the described chinstrap, and it may be great. But after trying several other commercial straps, I stumbled onto "The PAP-Cap" and have used it for quite a number of years. It is made of fairly heavy cotton and is non-stretchy. Previous stretchy straps always stretched out and became useless.

Looks a lot more comfortable than the awful neoprene chin strap I bought and couldn't even use for more than a few minutes...

Based on the OP's glowing recommendation I decided to give this item a try. I have been using the Respironics Premium one for years and always found it warm and a bit bulky. Well all I can say about this new chin strap is that it is a piece of crap. The only good thing about it is the price. Other then that, nada. I doubt this thing will last more then a couple of weeks with regular use.The ear holes look like someone just took a pair of scissors and cut them out. It definitely is light but …. enough said. I for one would not recommend it.
