Hybrid or nasal mask?

Post by adesetisland » Tue Sep 17, 2019 9:54 am

I’m a mouth breather when I sleep and am trying to train myself to breathe thru my noise. Would a hybrid or nasal mask help?
Which would you recommend?

I can't comment on how to train oneself to breathe through their nose. Do a search on kteague's posts, she's posted a few times on how she learned to nose-breathe. I'm fortunate enough to just naturally breathe through my nose.

However, a good mask for you might be the DreamWear Full-face. Not that it is more conducive to nose breathing, but because the Full-face mask can be converted to a nasal pillow or nasal cushion by simply replacing the the nasal attachments and straps.

You can then get the full face mask, get accustomed to it, then when you're ready convert to nasal. If it doesn't work out, or you have a cold, switch back.

Here is a video of Jason review the DreamWear and he shows how it is converted to Full-Face or Nasal.

Thank you for the suggestion. I like the idea that it can be converted to nasal.

I’m doing this on my own at the moment so how do i figure out mask size?

The DreamWear Full Face from cpap.com comes with a Medium Frame and four different size cushions. You can also get return insurance. There might be other size combinations on site as well.

I don't use Respironics, but a lot of ResMed masks have sizing charts you download and print.
