DreamStation Auto - New loud noise on exhale

Post by SleepyGamer » Tue Sep 17, 2019 7:13 am

I have been using a DreamStation Auto since last December. Overall, it has worked fine until the last couple nights. Suddenly, it has started making a strange noise part way through my exhale. The best way I can describe it is a long drawn out B-O-I-N-G sound. Except it's pretty low pitched. But as it kept waking me last night (and my wife) I kept thinking boing every time it happened. It starts about 1/4 into my exhale and stops right at the end when I start to inhale. The first night it only happened for a few minutes when I first turned on the machine (or I was too tired for it to wake me). Last night it either happened all night or kept reoccurring causing me to wake up repeatedly and causing my better half to go sleep in the spare bedroom. The machine was brand new when I got it.

Anyone else experienced this? I changed the disposable filter last night even though it looked clean (I had just replaced it and washed the reusable a couple weeks ago). My first thought is the motor is going bad, but hoping there might be something silly/easy I need to check being fairly new to CPAP treatment yet.

New and unexplained weird noises are never good.

My first thought is also motor going bad....contact whomever you got the machine from. It should still be under warranty since you got it new.
