HOSE STUCK - Advise needed
HOSE STUCK - Advise needed
Hello! I've been wearing a CPAP for about 10 years now and this is my 4th machine, but the first time with a Dreamstation.
I'm travelling and need to pack up this machine for the first time and I am completely unable to get the hose off the machine or off the mask.
It's like the rubber connecters are cemented in place not budging at all. It is NOT a heated hose, just a regular hose tubing, 15 size.
I've never had this problem with any of my other machines.
Any advice?

For the mask end... I'd dip the mask and hose in some warm, semi hot soapy water and see if you can work it loose that way,
Obviously soaking your machine in warm soapy water is out of the question... I'm not sure honestly what to suggest as far as getting the hose loose on the machine end.
At least not yet. I'm kinda busy at the moment, may come up with an idea later in the day.
Best of luck,
Gryphon

Try a little heat: wrap the connection in plastic, then a steaming hot cloth.
(Use gloves, tongs, etc)
Just avoid getting any wetness where it does not belong.
Those old vinyl fittings get stiff--sometimes heat will soften them.
Have a spare hose ready in case the old one needs to be cut off.
(Or a fresh roll of duck tape.)

Get a new hose and cut the old one off (be careful no to damage the machine)! I suggested getting the heated hose, as that one snaps in and out out (with release buttons).
Re: HOSE STUCK - Advise needed
Thank you, I will give that a go - we leave for the airport in about 2 hours - I can't believe I'm having this problem - hahahaha!

Re: HOSE STUCK - Advise needed
I'll certainly give that a try - thanks! My only worry is when travelling we will be in several destinations requiring me to pack up multiple times. I'd hate to risk tearing a hose while on this trip.
Geez, this is a true pain in the butt scenario. Never had this problem with an other machines.

Re: HOSE STUCK - Advise needed
I suggest packing a spare hose anyhow. Also, don't forget the mask, the hardgear, the humidifier andt ank, the power cord, an extension cord and (ifapplicable) the correct international adapter.
Re: HOSE STUCK - Advise needed
That might be the handiest way to do it - thanks, I will try it.
Re: HOSE STUCK - Advise needed
Actually, that's a great idea so I don't have to worry about this again - when I get back, for sure!
Re: HOSE STUCK - Advise needed
Grip the rubber end of the hose, and wiggle it side to side to break the grip, and you can work it off pretty easily.

Re: HOSE STUCK - Advise needed
For my travel machine, I use one of these on the machine end.
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/hose-quick-connect
It lets the hose remove easily when packing up. You might well be able to use one on the mask end, as well, although it will make the mask end marginally heavier, which might or might not work for you.
BTW, I carry a spare mask, and extra set of nasal pillows, and a spare hose in my cpap (formerly a camera) case. Who, me, paranoid about something happening to my equipment?
