Everyone,
In the past while traveling by air I have transportation available to when I get there so I can run out and get distilled water for my CPAP machine. This time I'm taking a trip to San Antonio and I'll be riding a shuttle to a downtown hotel so running out to get some distilled water might be a challenge. Can anyone share any method they have for carrying distilled water on the plane and not running into an issue with the TSA? Any help will be appreciated.

Rinse the tank out every day, and if there's any mineral buildup when you get back home, just rinse it with vinegar.
Distilled water is merely a debatable "convenience" so that you don't have to vinegar the minerals out of the tank.
In other countries, the manuals don't even mention distilled water.

I agree with Palerider...use tap water or even plain ordinary bottled drinking water.

Sniff the tap water first.
If you can smell chlorine, even a little, open a bottle.

That's why I mention bottled water. Sometimes tap water doesn't smell so great for various reasons and while it is safe to use in the water chamber...not exactly pleasant to use.chunkyfrog wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2019 8:04 amSniff the tap water first.

Re: Plane travel and the water for your CPAP
agree... Any water will do, provided it's safe to drink and doesn't stink. I have a friend I stay with who's city water is down right rank, when used in my CPAP it's like breathing with my face near a big pile of freshly tilled dirt and not in a good way ether.
Just give it a good washing when you get back home, and go back to using distilled.
Rest well,

Re: Plane travel and the water for your CPAP
I'm going on a 17 day trip to China next month and have been strategizing for weeks now on how to handle the water question.
I'm told that tap water isn't safe to drink there, even in the 5 star hotels that our tour uses.
I doubt distilled water is common there.
I'd rather drink the bottle water than use it in the cpap, sooooooooooooooooo.................
I've calculated from my past usage, bringing 5 - 500ML bottles from home filled with distilled water, packed in my checked in luggage will be just enough for the trip.
It will weigh about 7 lbs flying over, but 0 by the end of the trip, so I'll have room for 7 lbs of souvenirs..........win win.

Re: Plane travel and the water for your CPAP
Yikes! But I guess that isn't so very different than people who travel with wine/spirits in their luggage. I, fortunately I guess, have found that although I really prefer to use a humidifier at home am able to do without when I travel. So I use a (hacked) AirMini with my Bleep mask. Ideal? Meh. Acceptable? Yes. Generally, it's been less than 3 weeks and usually on a cruise. Maybe being on the sea adds extra humidity to the air for me? I guess I'll find out next year when we do a land-based trip!jani7 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2019 12:44 pmI'm going on a 17 day trip to China next month and have been strategizing for weeks now on how to handle the water question.
