Hello all,
I just read this study on the effect of exercise on obstructive sleep apnea. I thought it was interesting, because they not only attributed the reduction of AHI to decreased weight, but also increased conditioning. I also wonder if there isn't a component of increased sleep efficiency and and change in brain neurochemistry which accompanies the exercise and has an effect on AHI.
The article has a lot of great sleep study graphs

Kent,
I'm sure if one were overweight and lost it through whatever means, (exercise, diet, etc., etc, ) OSA would improve. However, I'm 62, 5' 11", weigh 180, work out in the gym 3 days a week ( 1 1/2 hours) with both freeweights and aerobic equipment, am in the best shape of my life (except back when I raced bicycles in my 40's) and I was still diagnosed with Sleep Apnea. I have continued to do the above throughout my therapy since last September and the only changes have been brought about by the CPAP machine.
