Anyone tried this portable lithium setup?

Post by Vampira » Sun Aug 18, 2019 4:05 pm

Hello.
Haven't posted in awhile, but I was wondering if anyone has tried one of these Jackery portable batteries. It is the Honda by Jackery JLS 290 portable power station. It claims to have pure sine-wave power if I plug into the AC outlet. I have used the Freedom Battery lithium battery with my older BiPap, but now that I have a Resmed Aircurve BiPap as my main machine - I am very reluctant to try the Jackery for fear of screwing up my precious machine! ( No humidifier of course.)
I've looked through some of the "camping battery" posts, but was hoping someone out there may have used one of these with a CPAP.
Husband and I have always tried to have a good battery pack (Sears Diehard portable, Xantrex, etc.) on hand for power outages.
Truthfully, I am just afraid to plug it in....due to lack of details in the user manual about CPAP use and my uber-paranoia concerning my CPAP machine.
I think the thing is fine, but any experiences out there?
(Sorry if it's a dumb question - I know the specs for all devices are available to read.)

Get the 12v adapter for your machine, and use the 12v outlet on your battery pack.

If you're going to use an inverter the pure sine wave is what you want. However like pale rider said you want to use the 12 volt plug instead since you won't waste power using the inverter and it will power CPAP longer.

Pure sine wave inverters haven't been need since somewhere around 2010.

The old M series needed pure sine wave for the humidifier (not the blower though).

Newer machines with their switching power supplies simply do not care at all. they're perfectly happy with modified sine wave power, the first thing they do is rectify it to DC anyway.
