Philips Dreamwear Full Face Replacement

Post by jbishsr » Wed Jul 31, 2019 7:45 am

So I'm not in need yet, but looking at the best place(the best price w/out compromising quality & good service) to buy replacement components for my Philips Dream Station Auto CPAP setup. I don't have insurance so it's all out of pocket. Any suggestions?
I was specifically looking at a Dreamwear full face. There were several generic replacements on Amazon but in the comments they were talking about having to buy liners or replace liners for the masks they were selling. What is a liner? There's an air cushion design built into the Philips mask so I don't understand what I'm missing.

Amazon or EBay probably the cheapest.

Can you point me to the link where you found generic replacement for the DreamWear? I wasn't aware of anything generic available for the mask itself.

There are generic hoses and filters but as far as any mask goes I have never seen anything generic.

Mask liners are a piece of cloth added to the mask.

Some people love them and some people don't. They are usually used for comfort or leak management.

What size are you? If your not small or medium then I'm pretty sure I have an extra from a fit pack I could send you.

Liner? or cushion? Cushions are usually replaceable--for way less than an entire mask.
Terminology is often confusing--and is sometimes used to sell more than you really need.

I get my stuff from Amazon and eBay.

There are no generic masks, that I know of.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if there were some knockoffs coming in from China and sold at Amazon, eBay etc... If there's market for it, they will produce them. And yes, even though the original DreamWare is made in China, it does't mean they all go through same type of QC.

I've bought from several different sources but on the whole it seems like prices are pretty consistent across the board. I think I've paid $160 for every complete mask / frame /headgear I've ever bought no matter from Amazon or any of the others. If you check out the Lanky Lefty on Youtube he usually has discount coupon codes for Cheapcpapsupplies.com (something like that). A cushion is the actual silicon "mask" that goes against your face.

The Liner is just a piece of over priced cotton with either velcro or tacky strips on the end of a couple of straps you use to afix the liner to the inside of the mask to make it more comfortable to wear. I think they're a pain in the ass and quit trying to bother with them, but that's just me. You could probably do just as well for $20 a pack to cut up some old tshirts and take to a cute little vietnamese tailor to replicate for you, get a whole month supply and just throw in the laundry just like the rest of your unmentionables.

I began to be kinda suspicious of using the liners because it makes it much more difficult to realize you have leaks. Also there is the whole disgusting using one liner a week deal.....the same liner against your face every night...uhhh.....gross. For me it's simple, wash and shave face, wash mask with hot water and dish soap every night. Adjust straps properly, don't over tighten (sometimes makes leaks worse) and you're good to go.

I have the Dreamwear Full and yes I do like it, it is comfortable but it can be finicky, I only use occasionally, it's nice to mix it up every now and then. I do like the composition of the silicon rubber they used in the cushion though.
Yay :D For no more diaphragm cramps and dozing off while driving!

i really appreciate you saying this. and even more so, the WAY you said it.

now, it happens that this has absolutely nothing to do with my sleep regime. i have the p10, it works for me and i like it. but i like how you have pointed out, without being a horse's patootie about it, how you have handled something that affects you. no holier than thou or "you really need to do THIS'" type of lecturing.

in other words, or in one word, "civil".

thank you.

I'm a young CPAP'r and am pretty happy with my therapy. I use a ffm and love it. I don't have any technical knowledge about sleep apnea, or CPAP therapy, all I know is what I've experienced for the last two years and I really want to contribute and I clutch that limited experience tightly in my hand and want to shout from the rooftops my path to success....Sooo.....problem is, I had to council myself and realise everyone's therapy looks different, how they get to success, my own personal success may be totally alien to someone else. So I'm learning and trying to be supportive and encouraging while also staying in my lane.

The only wrong way is the way that's not getting you positive results in your therapy. Yeah it's hard to keep my trap shut sometimes but it's no one's business what you're using to get good therapy.

My goal is to try my best to help when asked for it.
