I used a Resmed Airsense 10 for a year with AHI always 8-16 with 80-90% central apneas.
Recently started using a Resmed S9 Adapt at the default AutoASV settings with great improvement...typically my results look like the attached results below ..about an AHI 0f 1 with mostly hypopneas.
Do you recommend leaving at default settings or trying to improve from here? If so, what adj do you recommend I try? Raise minimum EPAP by 1cm perhaps?[img]

Re: Help with Resmed S9 Adapt adjustments
Just how long have you been using the Adapt?
How would you rate your sleep quality and how you feel in general since starting with the Adapt?

Re: Help with Resmed S9 Adapt adjustments
Only been using the Adapt for 4 days now with AHI of 0.7-2.4 on those days....before making any changes, wondering if I need to wait weeks or a month or so and let me adapt to the default settings? Or should I try small, single changes to fine tune?
Sleep seems to be same and may have less daytime fatigue but not a huge difference yet..hopefully will notice changes in couple weeks or so

Re: Help with Resmed S9 Adapt adjustments
Give yourself at least 2 to 4 weeks and see what happens both in terms of AHI and how you feel and sleep.
Your results aren't horrible at their worst and there is a lot of truth to the "give it time" thing especially with ASV therapy.
It just takes some getting used to both for the brain and body.
I see at least 2 breaks in therapy so we know you woke up at least twice. Probably woke up more often than that.
Normal and to be expected and with any wake up there is the increased chance of awake breathing irregularities getting flagged by mistake....plus the wake ups themselves mess with the sleep architecture and anything that messes with sleep in turn messes with how we feel during the day. Some of those flagged hyponeas might not be real...if you aren't asleep they don't count.
I see no urgent need to go fiddling with any of the settings at this time unless you are having specific problems related to comfort breathing or anything like that.

Re: Help with Resmed S9 Adapt adjustments
No comfort problems with breathing....2 breaks In therapy were restroom breaks.
Seem to be adjusting well to the new machine so I'll wait weeks before making any adjustments to let things adapt
Thanks

Re: Help with Resmed S9 Adapt adjustments
default settings were a very choppy ride for me, but i needed a 9.2 to resolve obstructive apneas when using a regular cpap and it appears you may require quite a bit less pressure to resolve obstructive apneas.
max pressure support of 15 can be a lot and would still be a lot for me, and 10 was good for me and i use 11-12 for good measure. max pressure support of 7-8 was not enough to control my transitional sleep problem and produced long boring remembered dreams.
l like to experiment, so i would put min epap up a little maybe to 5-6 because those are relatively easy pressures for most people to exhale against and 'may' approximate the pressure you used to resolve OAs with the autoset, and gradually reduce max PS down from 15 but not below 10.
and reduce min PS to 0 or 1.
