The more important question to consider is "which device works best for you"?

for me it is the ResMed -
for a friend of mine, it's the Respironics . . .
Machine: ResMed AirSense 11 Autoset
Mask: Bleep

Both manufacturers make solid units. My lungs (or perhaps it is my brain) prefer the way the ResMed feels. (I have used an S9, then Dreamstation for 14 days and now Aircurve -- all auto bilevel type machines). The real question is which model would you get (from either manufacturer)? I would want full data, auto, and whatever else depends on your diagnosis (do you need bilevel, do you have complex apneas), etc.

Just like with Ford (or GM), there is probably more variation between models than between manufacturers.
Machine: Aircurve 10 Vauto (Prior S9 VPAP)
Mask: Quattro Air FFM and AirTouch F20 FFM

I have originally had an AHI of 136 W/0 XPAP, Diagnosis was Obstructive Sleep Apnea, with 95% Blockage Of My AirWay. I started out with the Respironics®️ REMstarAUTO®️ M - Series | A-Flex®️, APAP ( Circa: 2006 - Mine: 2017 August 14 - 16Th ). I had this Machine till it developed what sounded like a Mask ”HIGH LEAK ! ! !”
Quote: Found on VPAP III Display
after 7 Months, it was 11 Years Old. When I got this Machine. The only thing I didn’t like about this Machine was, when You First Set It Up, when You ATTACH the Power Brick, You must PRESS the ⬅️ & the ➡️ Simultaneously, and having only one good hand, due to Celebral Palsy, I had have www.wardmedicalservices, Set It Up for Me.

The Second Machine, a ResMed®️ VPAP®️ III, (April, 2003 - Mine: 2018 March 16Th). Only Problem is — No Sleep Data Card Slot!! Found this One much more Reliable than the Other Machine!!
www.wardmedicalservices.com, is Retrieving My Sleep Data, as I speak.

They are planning to get Me a ResMed®️ VPAP®️ S9, a DISCO NTINUED, “BRAND NEW”, & “Never - Out - Box” Machine!!
Earl E. Ward, CEO of https://www.wardmedicalservices.com ; “Feels ResMed Is much more Reliable around Company”.
This why I Added the S9 to My Profile.

Are you paying for this "new" machine out of your own pocket or do you have insurance that will pay for all or the bulk of it?

Stick with ResMed though...

Why not just say "Resmed S9 VPAP"? We really don't need all the extra stuff that you add to everything. You add a lot of stuff that breaks up the text and makes it harder to follow.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

When does insurance stops paying for a new Machine? Like It used be every 5 years a few years back.
What is it Today? Months of compliance?

I do have Insurance and They paid for Respironics and than My Current ResMed Of a Year and 4 Months, I don’t know if, the Insurance Company will help pay for this “New” Machine this soon or not. I am sticking with ResMed too.

Why does this wonderful supplier that you have keep wanting to saddle you with discontinued machines?
Insurance pays the same....for the latest model or a discontinued model.
Unless you are cash self pay and they are giving you a sizable discount for discontinued model....get the latest machine and not the discontinued S9 model.

I had a long line of Dream Stations and just received a Resmed Air Curve BiPap. This machine - wow - I can't even tell I'm on XPAP therapy. It moves fast and catches events that would woken me up with the Respironics equipment (I have severe REM apnea amongst others). BUT I couldn't tolerate their APAP machine, and it depends on you. I would trial them both.

I'm of the impression that both brands have good (great?) reliability.

The big factor to consider is how the manufacturers implement the auto algorithms. Resmed is far superior in this regard, and this is a big deal, IMO.
