Hi all.
I posted here before many years ago when I started my CPAP therapy. I've always had the same issue with it and that is it causes painful gas to the extent it wakes me several times during the night. My belly will be fully distended with gas.
If I sleep on my back with my chin tucked down to my chest I dont get as much gas but as soon as I roll over to sleep on my sides I'm screwed because its gas city
I've dealt with this for years now as there doent seem to be any answers. But im only sleeping about 3 to 4 hours a night now because if this and I'm at my wits end.
Anyone know of any fixes?
I tried turning down my CPAP pressure but it doesnt help. I tired wedge pillows but it makes zero difference.

Re: Excruciating gas
There will be some more experienced people coming along soon.
I would recommend adding your machine to your profile and let us know what your current settings are.
If you can post a typicalnight of graphs, that would help too. That will help the experts see what chnages might help. Iknow some people have to let a few more events slip by in an effort to keep aerophagia at bay.
The more info you can post, the more they can help you. If you haven't already read the new user post, please do as it has the info about Oscar and what graphs to post. I know you aren't a new user, but that post was added more recently and has great info.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?
Re: Excruciating gas
I do understand... but have you considered your diet (or possibly meds of some kind)? What you eat (or even what may be in certain dishes) when in relation to bedtime? Nothing to lose by looking.
Re: Excruciating gas
zoocrewphoto is right, the more info you can give, the more targeted your responses can be. Just browsed through some of your old posts and it looks like you've had troubles off and on all these years. You're probably going to have a lot of the same subjects come up again. Please do post some data so those in the know can see if there's any leeway in your settings to try to make accomodations for the air in the belly. Good luck getting this back under control. Did anything change around the same time things worsened this time around?

Re: Excruciating gas
I'm using air sense 10 elite with an airfit30 mask at a pressure of 10.
My diet is pretty spot on.
I eat a paleo diet with intermittent fasting. So I eat my first meal at noon and my last at 6.
I dont got to bed until 10.

I have always had gas from the cpap machine. My doc simply says take gas x which does nothing and wants me to take prilosec.
I have done both for a very long time and it doesnt even dent the gas

Are you using EPR exhale relief? If so, at what setting?
If not...turn it on and use it.

Re: Excruciating gas
hello. could you please post some charts? i see from your past posting that you have sleepyhead. didn't dig too far so i don't know if you've posted charts before.
but, please, do so now. there may be a clue in there for folks to spot.
also, i realize your diet is good. and you may have done this already, but if not, google sleep hygiene.
lastly, it took me years to get past that aerophagia monster. mine was overcome by practicing sleep hygiene(somewhat) and by slowly(and i mean SLOWLY) increasing my pressure.
this may/may not be the answer for you, but it was for me.
good luck!
