Assistance asked translating machine settings to ASV

Post by JaxTom » Sat Jun 22, 2019 2:54 pm

I previously was on an ASV machine, but when I got machine motor life exceeded message went thru new sleep study and new sleep doc and got new S10 Air Curve non-ASV machine. My AHI scores were always below 1.0. now on good days they are 5.0 and usually higher.

So I just bought the S9 ASV VPAP offered here and I'm trying to translate the settings on S10 non-ASV to the S9 ASV.

Sleepyhead has this as my S10 settings ; PS 4.0 over 6.0-18.0

My possible setting on S9 ASV and where I have them set to;
Mode - ASV Auto
Min EPAP - 6.0
MAx EPAP - 15 (highest)
Min PS - 4
Max PS - 12

Should something be changed? I can reference my S10 if needed also.

Just set it the way your previous ASV was.

My previous ASV was not auto. I want to take advantage of that.

Set the S9 Adapt (ASV) to
Minimum EPAP 6 and max of 15
Set PS minimum to 4 and PS maximum to 4
Should function pretty much like the VAuto with fixed 4 PS
Don't worry about max IPAP setting....The machine won't go anywhere very high unless it really thinks you need it to.

Does the S9 allow you to make the pressure support max and min the same? On the aircurve 10 asv, pressure support min an max have to be atleast 5 digits seperated from each other (if I'm not mistaking because I'm going off of memory) and does not allow you to set it any closer.

You know I don't remember but I thought it let me do that. I haven't used the S9 Adapt for 2 or 3 years now so I will be honest I can't remember but I would assume that if JaxTom couldn't do it that he would have come back and said it wouldn't let him.

I just got an S9 ASV myself. The Min and Max PS are forced to be at least 5cm apart.

JaxTom, if I'm understanding you correctly, it's not that you want your ASV to function like your VAuto or else you wouldn't have bought it in the first place. You want it to function as an ASV but take advantage of the auto epap. Even if you were able to set the min/max PS both to 4, that would likely negate all the benefits of ASV as a PS of 4 is not enough to trigger a breath in most cases. I think the settings you posted in your original post are good. You could bump the max PS up more (I believe the default is 15) if you found it inadequate.
