And what do you think of it? I'm possibly switching to it tomorrow from the Comfort Classic

i use the swift and...
i like it better than the nasal mask i started out with, which gave me sores on the bridge of my nose and between my nostrils, where it rested against the skin...also had huge problems with humidity and rainout
...i started using the swift a few weeks ago and the improvements are:
no sores, nothing resting on my forehead or between my eyes, easier to clean daily, lightweight and relatively comfortable, the straps can be fairly loose and still stay on and no issues with humidity; and my problems with it are: it's supposed to be for side sleepers, according to my supplier, and i don't find it works so well for that: i get a lot of leaking when i turn on my side, mainly because the frame is too wide and pushes the pillows out of my nose when i rest my face sideways on my pillow, the headgear pops off my head if i don't put the lower strap under my hair (ie ponytail), the straps leave marks on my face that are still there when i go to work and it's a little noisy...still, i'm liking nasal pillows better, and i plan to check with my supplier tomorrow about getting the fisher & paykel opus, which is new and seems to address some of the problems i have with the swift; i also read great things about the aura on here; oh, and i ordered a set of padacheeks to address the strap-mark problem
now, i'm quite new to cpap, so there's a good chance i don't know what the heck i'm talking about! but, hope that helps
sharon

Beth,

I've found the best thing to do is to click on the SEARCH box at the top and then put in some key words to get answers. Especially when everything is so confusing and new! For example, to search for threads about the Swift, click search and enter "Swift AND mask AND nasal AND pillows" and you will get lots of threads from previous posts regarding the Swift mask. That is usually the best place to start, there is so much to read! Good luck.

Mary

I use the swift and love it. I have to admit that I haven't tried other nasal pillows. Only issue I have is the hose coming off the side so it is not as comfortable to sleep on that side. Given the alternatives (nasal mask or ff mask, I would take a nasal pillow and tape anyday).

Mirage Swift Nasal Pillow System

Post by cptcook » Wed Feb 21, 2007 3:48 pm

bethlori,
I've been using the Mirage Swift Nasal Pillow System since last october and I love it. Yes, it is a little noisy but you get used to it. I've also found if I fix my pillow just right so the Mirage Swift Nasal Pillow System hangs off the pillow (just your head and part of your face is on the pillow) it works out pretty good for sleeping on your side. Along with cleaning regularly you'll have to change the pillows on your swift about once every two weeks or so to keep the leaks down. I really like the Mirage Swift Nasal Pillow System.
The thought of going to the love sick octopus sprawling across your face just turns me off.

I take exception to changing pillows every two weeks. I used my set for 6 months, and clean every couple of days (pillow only) since it seals better that way. I have yet to totally disassemble it totally and don't see that happening or the need for it.

I use the Swift, though I'm waiting for an Opus....I like the Swift OK, but it is a little loud. I was the pillows every day, since it seems to make them seal better, but, like snoregirl, I don't disassemble the whole thing. Not worth it, IMHO. I've been using it since October, and I've replaced the pillows once (about 3 weeks ago.)

Using same pillows on my Swift since September, no leaks, use AYR gel before sleeping, hasn't affected pillows. Wash daily in baby shampoo, air dry, also don't completly disassemble it just take straps off.

Love it

Post by cookie246 » Wed Feb 21, 2007 8:11 pm

I have had my mirage swift pillows for about a month. I used them in my titration test and requested them with my machine through the technician. I love it. I do find it off my face some times, not often, but I love how it does not cover my face. I am claustrophobic.

Ahhh!!! The power of sleep!

I used the Swift for about four months. What I liked about it: lighter and less leakage problems than a mask. What I did not like: it did not work for me as a side sleeper. I tried to position my pillow just right to hang the Swift off the sde and ended up with a chronic case of jaw pain.

I switched to a ComfortLite 2 nasal system. Much more comfortable on my side, but it has its own special problems two.

Everyone is different. I learned from my experience to be willing to try something different. I'm still working on tweaking my ComfortLite to make it work better for me.

swift pillows

Post by ldaiga » Thu Feb 22, 2007 3:29 pm

I've used the swifts now since last June and have learned to adjust to some of the minor problems quite successfully. I route the hose up one side and over the back of the pillow. Sleeping on it is tricky, but I've adjusted with my memory pillow. And for the noise factor, my cheap fix is I put in parts of cotton balls in my ears every night. The buckle digs into the back of my head, but I've placed use moleskin pads over the buckle and that keeps the pressure down to a minimum. Now I have the greatest swift set up!
