yearning 4zs therapy -- not going well!
I have low recorded ahi, but still wake up in the morning with headache and strong heartbeat and a sort of "hypoxic" feeling, like perhaps a bit dizzy. I've asked a bunch of doctors and they say your data looks great. I'm going in for a titration soon, but would like to figure out some stuff in the mean time. One strange thing I've noticed is that the inspiration on my wave form will have a very obvious uptick that would seem to indicate resistance. However, when I look at flow limit, there is usually no flow limit apparent. Has anyone seen waveforms like this before and know what they may indicate?

Great, thanks so much. So I don't really need to worry about that then? It's strange because previously they never showed up. Only since I've started using the resmed 10 for her have I seen them.

Could be you're sleeping differently, or the machine is just a bit more sensitive... what did you have before?yearning4zs wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2019 12:22 amGreat, thanks so much. looked more like this. I would say overall I feel worse on the new machine.
edit: I had a resmed 10 for her before as well, but it was a rental. Perhaps had been used longer?

I see the same artifacts in that trace..yearning4zs wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2019 12:48 amlooked more like this. I would say overall I feel worse on the new machine.

I think as you scroll through the night, you'll see variations... what you don't have is a nice smooth exhalation... you're seeing the cardiac effects in that, and it just depends on *when* you inhale in or out of time with your heartbeat determines what kind of strange shape the top of your inhalation curve looks like.
Are the settings on the new machine the same as the old one?

Re: strange flow rate waveform question
I believe the main difference is that I upped the max to 8.6, whereas it was at 6.8 before (it seemed to want to go higher). I also have the machine on soft response, which I might not have before. I think everything else is more or less the same. I have it on auto-climate control now. I think before it was on manual with humidity at 3.palerider wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2019 1:16 amI see the same artifacts in that trace..yearning4zs wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2019 12:48 amlooked more like this. Post a whole recent night, including the flow limitation graph.. let's see what things look like.

Re: strange flow rate waveform question
I'd raise the min pressure to 6.

Re: strange flow rate waveform question
Great, thanks for the advice! Can I humbly ask why the min pressure should be raised? Someone else also suggested that. Just would like to learn a bit and understand the logic. Thanks.

Re: strange flow rate waveform question
I'd try min 7 for one night and see is pressure helps.

Re: strange flow rate waveform question
Is the idea of raising pressure to bring down the flow limitations? Would my amount of flow limitations be considered a lot? Just curious, because 7 seems to be pretty close to my 95%

Re: strange flow rate waveform question
The amount of flow limitations shown isn't horrible but here's one of mine from some time back. Pretty boring.
You do have some activity showing.
More minimum pressure helps stent or hold the airway open better so as to help prevent those FLs from happening as long as the FLs aren't nasal congestion related. More pressure won't usually help nasal mucosa related FLs....you have to do something else for those.

or here is someone else's report I had handy.
