Neck pain/stiffness
Neck pain/stiffness
Hi all. New to this forum. I have been on cpap for a little over a year and now have been suffering neck pain and stiffness. I wear full face mask head gear. Is this a common problem?

Re: Neck pain/stiffness
Some people have this problem. It is often because they have over-tightened the straps to avoid leaks, and the straps are tight against the back of the head/neck

Re: Neck pain/stiffness
Try a CPAP pillow or a soft cervical collar. Good luck.

Re: Neck pain/stiffness
I am interested in solutions to this problem also -- I have noticed increased neck pain over the past several months. I believe it's because the head strap I use limits range of motion of my neck during sleep so the muscles get tight and "locked down." I don't know what other type head gear I can use with a full face mask. Does anyone use something other than the typical full head strap/attachment?
Re: Neck pain/stiffness
You're all probably right, but on the off chance there are other cervical issues, I'd check with my doctor.
Re: Neck pain/stiffness
Maybe it's a bit off topic, but i've been having some severe back pain for some time. I've also been to the doctor and the treatment they prescribed didn't help at all. What recommendations could you give me?

Re: Neck pain/stiffness
Have you considered trying some gentle stretching exercises or yoga? These can often help alleviate back pain by improving flexibility and strength in your muscles. Additionally, ensuring you have proper posture while sitting and standing, as well as using ergonomic furniture, can make a big difference.
I can relate to your situation as I also suffered from severe back pain due to a trauma a while back. What really made a significant difference for me was Physiotherapy . The targeted exercises and professional guidance helped me regain mobility and reduce pain significantly. So, you might want to look into physiotherapy as a potential solution.

To DanJFoley - get another MD with a proper diagnosis and suggestions for therapy... it doesn't sound like yours has given much help at all.
