I've been on a regular CPAP for 5 years, finally decided to take the leap and buy a RESMED Airmini since there was a 30-day return policy. Here's my review.
Really wanted to use my own mask (Swift FX Nasal Pillow w/Bella Loops) and so I purchased the hose adapter on Ebay (took 2 weeks China, but works perfectly). I used my own regular size hose and added the Q-tube as well as the HME (meant for the Z1).
Was extremely happy with the size, setup, and quality of sleep. I'm not used to the exhale relief on my old Philips Respironics System One and so I turned the setting to 3, since it doesn't seem I can turn it OFF. This really helped with the noise at the mask and made it a steady hum. I have a setting of 7, with ramp starting at 4. With all of the modifications the noise was just a touch louder than my regular machine.
BUT .... after 2 of blissful sleep I woke up after night 3 with a little bit of a dry mouth and a stuffy nose. I had read about other's saying that with the RESMED masks and their HUMIDX. On night 4 the dryness was worse and so was the stuffy nose.
I went back to my regular machine on night 5 and woke up without dry mouth nor a stuffy nose.
My conclusion ... it's not going to work for me ... I travel for weeks at a time.
I've now ordered the Dreamstation GO w/Humidifier on a 15-day trial and will check it out. I think the Airmini is going back.
*******UPDATE *******
Keeping the Dreamstation GO w/Humidifier. Perfect sleep and didn't wake up with a stuffy nose or dry mouth. I think it's a touch bit louder than the AirMini but the benefit of having a "real" humidifier is worth it even if it's bigger and heavier.
