Getting a full face mask to seal

Post by brian452 » Wed May 01, 2019 9:37 am

I've been wearing a full face mask for many years. (I'm a mouth breather and I've never lasted more than a few minutes with my mouth shut.) I use the Quattro. I've tried others but I can't remember which and I gave up on them when I couldn't get a perfect seal. I would keep trying new ones, but it's expensive. To get a seal on the Quattro, I make it pretty tight - and a bit tighter as the weeks go by until I get a new one. I can tolerate the pressure of the tightness, but lately I thinks it's affecting the skin on the top of my nose - making it tender, lots of whiteheads, and leaving a dent. I hope it's not permanent. Any suggestions? Thank you.

I used the Quattro for 8 years...It is definitely not made to be worn tight. Turn the forehead dial all the way out. Then put on the mask with the pressure on.
Here are some videos to look at...I recently switched to the Simplus which is similar to Quattro. https://video.search.yahoo.com/search/v ... p&fr=yfp-t

I have found the pad-a-cheek Anti Leak strap holds everything in place and eliminates leaks.

I have some tips on my old, outdated blog in my signature. One thing I do is dial the nose part way out with loose upper straps, and tighter in the chin area--more padding there, and loose around the nose lets the cushion fully inflate to hug and seal around the nose.

Mine has proven to be permanent.

Wait till the dent/tenderness turns into an open sore.

The only help I've found is to use a band-aid as a buffer right on the tender spot. I'm currently going through the same problem with a Simplus, which otherwise works well for me.
