Be Careful with Vit D Supplementation and Calcium Supplementation

Post by ChicagoGranny » Mon Apr 15, 2019 5:43 am

The USPSTF concludes that the current evidence is insufficient to assess the balance of the benefits and harms of vitamin D and calcium supplementation, alone or combined, for the primary prevention of fractures in men and premenopausal women.

The USPSTF concludes that the current evidence is insufficient to assess the balance of the benefits and harms of daily supplementation with doses greater than 400 IU of vitamin D and greater than 1000 mg of calcium for the primary prevention of fractures in community-dwelling, postmenopausal women.

The USPSTF recommends against daily supplementation with 400 IU or less of vitamin D and 1000 mg or less of calcium for the primary prevention of fractures in community-dwelling, postmenopausal women.

Regular walking is said to do more for the bones.
You just have to start BEFORE it hurts.

Hey, Goof, the "Y" often has watercise classes.
Especially for the barely ambulatory.
Maybe even affordable.

I'm thinking more of like a Livestock Watering Tank, from Tractor Supply. Maybe, put a treadmill in the tank to walk in place on. I can't walk enough to make it anywhere. Jim

The Army used a thing called a M67 Immersion Heater, it fits on a garbage can, it heats the water in the can by a tank filled with Gas dripping into the heater, it comes with two sections of 3 in stovepipe for the chimney. Works great to heat the water. Jim

Just about time to fill it up. 80"s today.

You start a thread about vitamin D and calcium, and you end up in a livestock trough. Sigh.

That's not really that bad though, have you gone down the Youtube rabbit hole yet?

Also, the livestock trough sounds like a brilliant plan. Sorry CG, but sometimes us cows just gotta have fun.
