Humidifier

Post by csb » Thu Mar 28, 2019 6:32 am

As the weather starts to warm up the humidity levels also come up. Does anyone discontinue using the humidifier on their CPAP machines. Would the air be humid enough to go without?

Use your own judgement...it's strictly a comfort issue. If you are more comfortable using humidifed air, then use it. I use humidity all year round regardless of the air humidity.

I go without year round. Try taking it down a notch at a time all the way to no humidity. If at any point, you start getting dry nasal passages, you've taken it down too far. Bump it back up.

No.
I use the same humidity setting year round. I just let the machine sort out the changes in ambient humidity and use or not use however much water it might need to use to give me a nice consistent non varying humidity. My nose doesn't like for me to go messing with the moisture.
I will vary the hose air temp depending on comfort though but the humidity level setting I never change.

I quit using my humidifier years ago.... unless my sinuses are acting up. It is one less thing to mess with. Try going a week without it and see how it feels. I love not having to mess with the water and everything being so dang wet!

I will disconnect the humidifier in April and reconnect in October.
Makes things a little easier.

When I got my first CPAP in 2001 it came with a humidifier. It was such a mess to set up and use so I stopped using it after about a month. Haven't used a humidifier since.

I fiddle with humidifier settings. Need more during spring tree pollen season and winter cold. Need less during rain/thunderstorms. Summer with its hot, humid weather, I turn humidity off. I use a standard hose, not a heated one.

Winter is always dry and with you heat on most of the time in the upper mid west it makes it worse. With this Airsense 10 Autoset I thought it was mentioned that it would automatically adjust to the conditions. Provided you have it set to Auto?

The machine does everything but add water when needed.
I find that less water is used in moist weather.
Like Pugsy says--same setting year round.
