card reader and software

Post by dancingqueen » Sun Feb 18, 2007 7:36 pm

Hi Everyone,

Haven't bene on the site in a while. I finally squeezed out of the my Resp Tech (after my pulmonary doctor wrote the rx at my request) a Respironics BiPap Auto M Series with a smart card. Now I need to learn how to read the measurements. Are there specific card readers for various cards like with cameras etc? Did all of you get your readers from CPap.com? What should I expect to pay?

The machine screen has several measurements but does NOT include any information about apnea episodes during the night or excessive leakage, which is what I wanted to know. The manual says this info will only show (on the read out screens on the machine) if the tech has programmed them in. Does this mean that the software will not be able to read that info either?

I would appreciate any advice and info.

Thanks
DQ

Program them in yourself, kick the RT in the chins the next time you see him.

Your Bipap should program just like the auto does so some fields will be different, but set the ones in BOLD to values shown:

1. Hold down the <- -> buttons while plugging in the power
on the back, wait 2 beeps, release buttons.
2. Press the + key. <- -> buttons move to next field, -/+ keys decrement/increment
3. Check the following field(s):

-Therapy Mode=Auto (CPAP/Auto)

-Auto:Max=9 (default=20.0cm)

-Auto:Min=6 (default=4.0cm)

-CFlex Setting=2 (options are off, 1, 2 or 3)

-AutoRamp Time=30 (options are 05 to 45 min)

-AutoRamp Pressure=6.0cm (4cm->AutoMin)

-Mask Alert Feature=ON (On/Off)

-Auto Off Feature=Off (On/off)

-Split Night Time = Off (off, 120, 180, 240)

-Show AHI/Leak Feature=ON (On/Off)

Press On/Off button to exit.

Clearing the LCD data:

If after you enter setup mode, instead of pressing the (+) key for parameter setup, you press the -> button and when you get to the Therapy screen press the minus (-) key for 5 seconds and it will reset the LCD data back to zero. Then it will show you the new stats the next day. Prior data will still show up on the SmartCard if that is downloaded.

Hi Queen,

I'm not sure about software options but the card reader is available either from CPAP com for about $135 or from Two Factors com for $30 including shipping.

Good luck making the choice!
