Re: mold
Shame on me...I rarely clean my hose or reservoir since I use distilled water and I rarely clean my mask..just wipe it with baby wipes.

Re: mold
There are many ResMed heated tube models. I just checked the clinical manual used by hospitals for the AirSense 10. They do not mention cleaning that part. It needs to be disinfected when moving it between patients though.ThereSheBreathes1 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2019 9:59 amhi new user here so be kind:)
let's talk mold. I have the Resmed heated tube model.
Also the little ring that sits inside the machine, where the water reservoir meets the tube outlet.
Not once in 8 plus years.....did I clean it OR was I alerted to the fact in needs to be cleaned.
CHECK YOURS people....
Unless you have a different model, you were misinformed.
As a newbie here, you may have got a better response here is you ASKED whether what you heard was true rather than declaring it as FACT.

Re: mold
Whatever trips your trigger.
There's so much in that first post that we don't know that greatly impacts just how much it (mold) might impact the rest of us.
But it hurts no one to check those seals for any number of reasons. Will I be doing it?
Probably negative on that one.

Mold doesn't appear by Magic, the spores have to be in your environment first. I'm not coming to visit you. Your lucky day!
Jim
If your machine was NOT setting around with water in it the Spores wouldn't be living in your machine, Spores don't thrive in dry places.

Each post has a " Mark in the upper right hand corner of the post, it quotes the post and you can reply under the quote, don't feel it's required.

If you have a RedMed AirSense 10, the air tube can be removed for further cleaning.ThereSheBreathes1 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2019 10:54 amPosting reply by clicking the yellow arrow here. I see no way to respond to specific posts.
I used distilled water only. I have the black mold encrusted rubber ring in a baggie upstairs....it's real???

Re: mold
Those seals are easily cleaned...or even better yet...replaced and not expensive at all.

I won't argue with you about the presence of mold or why you have it or whatever.
There's so much involved with mold growing than just why the seals might have what appears to be mold growing on it.
Most people with common sense cleaning won't have an issue but there is always the exception that might have a problem for some reason or other.
If anyone sleeps better and tends to worry about mold in the seals (warranted or not)....the fix is easy and cheap. Replace them if it bugs a person too much.

Lots of mold varieties LOOK black--only one is "black mold".palerider wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2019 1:31 pmOh? let's see the lab analysis, otherwise, you're just GUESSING.ThereSheBreathes1 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2019 11:02 am

Laboratory analysis is the only way.
If real black mold is discovered, it had to come from somewhere.
Your house has a VERY BIG PROBLEM.
Mold mitigation is very expensive--the bad mold is most common when there has been a flood.
Most mold varieties are harmless, but unpleasant.
