Call Respironics help desk and ask about their plans to support this new operating system.

Go up to the top of the forum page and click on "Search". Then do a search on the word "Vista".......there should be a few posts from one of the users that got it to work on his computer.

Best wishes,

Buy an Apple iMac and with BootCamp run Windows XP on the iMac! BootCamp from Apple partitions the hard drive to allow an install of XP with SP2. The next OS from Apple will blow away Vista like OS-X did XP!

Good Luck!

We second the Apple idea!

We have a 20" Apple Intel iMac and that's what we did.

This is a good option, albeit an expensive one.

I'm at home now, and don't have my notes I made at work when installing Encore, but I'll give it a go from memory.

The key is, before running the installation, right-click on the EncorePro installation file, and go to "Properties".

When you're in the properties menu you will see a tab at the labeled "Compatability". Select that.

Next, check the box that says something like "run this program in this mode" Check that box. The default is Windows XP w/ Service Pack 2.

Save those settings and start the install.

During the installation you will get error messages. Be brave, and just continue through them

After the install is done, there will be an EncorePro icon on your desktop. Right-click on that and do the same thing for the compatability mode.

BTW, you should do the same procedure when installing the card-reader driver.

I hope this helps. If you get stuck let me know.

Rick

Rick,

I set the installation file as you suggested, but still got the error and Vista would not proceed. Any ideas?

I just paid $188 for the software and reader only to find it will not work with windows Vista! The wonderful support people at cpap.com have suggested I might try to install windows 98 on my computer....they had no idea what Vista was!!!
I was also told that I am now out that money because they will not accept the software once it has been opened. Any ideas????

Yes. Get it working with Vista.

You can run Windows XP in Vista using Virtual P C 2007. It's a free program. There is a article in P C Magazine NOV 2008 on using it. by Malestrom. Page 136. Jim

You have to download it in the flavor you need, 32 bit or 64 bit.....

I'm running Encore Pro 1.8 on Vista. It wouldn't install correctly until I did this......
Run the install. Select advance install. Install ONLY the Encore Pro. Do not install the database. After Encore pro is installed go run the installer again. Select advanced again and now also check to install the database. It will install and "update the Encore Pro" to marry the database to it. Now run.....enjoy.

Encore Pro 1.8, will run on Vista 32 Bit, but it will not run on Vista 64 Bit, due to the Smart Cart Reader software being written for 32 Bit only. So it wants the correct flavor O S. Jim
