First official post here.
I've been reading and reading cpap talk.com for the last 2 years trying to gain insites into my own sleep habits with APAP.
Thank you Pugsy, Palerider, and many others for your constant contributions to the general topics. I've learned a lot more here than I have from several visits to local Drs. ( quite frustrating )
I'm trying out a Dreamstation 700 I picked up locally tonight, and sticking with my old settings from my PR System one 60 on APAP of 5.5 and 11.5 with aflex at 3 , humidifier at 3 , heat at 3. I'm in relatively dry Cal. thus feel better with a reasonable amount of humidity. Sticking with my Swift FX nasal, chin strap and teeth clenching guard as well.
I've tried most of the S8 and S9 models at various points in the last year or so and tried the SH software several times as well, with mixed results. I tend towards the Mac side of the house, and SH seems to be abit less stable. So, yes, I'm switching to a Windows 10 machine for SH work tomorrow.
My main goal is to have more energy during the day. (i.e. sleep better) My nights rest varies dramatically and doesn't show up much in the AHI results. Some days i'll nap at 11:00 for an Hour, then again at 4:00pm for 45 minutes. I average 6-8 hrs of sleep, feel energetic upon waking, Fitbit says i'm getting and Hr of REM and an Hr or more of Deep sleep. ( yes I take those readings with a grain of salt. )
The System One LCD only show AHI, no details on central or more.
Both my brother and I are low in T blood measurements, He uses prescribed meds, I don't. He complains the meds don't let him sleep well.
I stay in good shape, exercise irregularly working outside doing my own landscaping, wood splitting, tree felling, etc.
I also track my steps with a Fitbit and stay in the 8-12 step daily range.
Health is otherwise reasonable, headaches the last few years ( more nerve pain, as removing a couple top right teeth alleviated the pain felt by about 50% a few months ago.
I could go on, but thanks for reading this far.....
I'm hoping the Dreamstation results can tell me a little more about my breathing habits.
Tim

You do realize that those numbers don't apply to a bilevel.trfarley wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 10:07 pmFirst official post here.

the old numbers are 5.5 MIN, 11.5 MAX, do NOT set your bilevel to EPAP 5.5, IPAP 11.5 unless you want trouble.
It's more like EPAPMin 5.5, IPAP Max 11.5, PS 2
Given that it was *developed* on a Mac.... strange.

Thanks again Palerider !
I wasn't 100% sure quite what the affects of the PS were, even after reading several of the comments here.
I'll try what you recommend for a several nights mostly to knock down any other variables in the equation, i.e. sleep hours, changed beds again, cats climbing up on me at night, etc.
I'll try the SH again, I kept seeing a hang on the version I was using on 10.11 OS X, as if it could quite read the last record off the SD card... I'll try again, it also helps when my mental state is firing on all 8 cylinders.
Off subject - I have noticed that being on PAP for many years, I haven't had a cold in about 5 years, maybe un-related but I work with student laptops/keyboards day in and day out, which are full of germs generally. idk.
Thanks
Tim

The PS is simply the difference in the exhale and inhale pressure.trfarley wrote: ↑Tue Feb 05, 2019 9:48 pmThanks again Palerider !

I've had a lot less sinus/respiratory problems since starting CPAP too... many report the same thing.
