HELP, cant sleep from Noise REMstar Plus M Series C-Flex!!!!
I just received my REMstar Plus M Series with C-Flex. I ordered it from cpap.com. First of all it was missing the swivel connector, this is minor . The major issue i have is NOISE . Yes NOISE. The sound is like VOOO then MOO, everytime time i inhale and exhale. As if the blower revs up and then revs down (i understand that C-Flex works that way), but with such an annoying noise level!!!!!!!! My wife could not sleep , i could not sleep because of the noise. I had the Puritan Bennett 420G and never had issues with noise.
Any suggestions? Is this normal? or is this a defective machine?
I got this so that it could be the permanent CPAP next to my bed while I use the Puritan Bennett 420G for travel.
Your feedback is very much appreciated

Noisy cpap
I have a Remstar Pro M Series that I use for back-up. It is very quiet nothing but a faint swoosh when I breathe. I think you may have something wrong with your machine plus the fact it is not all there makes the unit questionable. I would be making a fuss with someone. Hope you get it straightned out and find you and your partner can tolerate the therapy. Hang tight......Jim

Have you tried ear plugs?

I just rec'd the auto M series and no they no longer send the swivel as that was defective and part of the leakage problem. You can order it if you wish but it is not recommended. My machine makes the similar sound you described but it is not at a level that keeps me awake. The sounds of my swift are louder than the machine by far.
I think all machines will make some noise as you inhale and exhale to some degree? I dunno this is only my second machine.

What's this all about? I have a Pro M that came with the elbow (got it in July 2006), and I've never heard of this. What's the issue? Should I take my elbow off? Thanks.I just rec'd the auto M series and no they no longer send the swivel as that was defective and part of the leakage problem. You can order it if you wish but it is not recommended.
Ear plugs work every time all the time. We both have been using them for years. A box of 200 pr. is about $30 and last 1 1/2 to 2 years.
I went from an old Sullivan Plus V to the machine you have and there was a difference in the sound. I just use a C-flex setting of 1 so it isn't that dramatic.
Best of luck.

digitalgeek, is the machine loud if you turn the cflex off? And is it the machine or the mask that makes noise.?
In the past, I've read that the M machines were just as quiet as the Classic, so the machine itself should not be making noise - unless it's the cflex. If you turn cflex off, and the machine is still noisy, then it must have a problem.
You might try:
1. Putting the machine in a drawer (as sugested), or under the bed.
2. Using white noise to soften the machine/mask noise (as suggested).
3. Turning the cflex off (if you don't suffer from aerophagia).
4. Nasal pillows usually are noisier (on exhale) than nasal masks, but more comfortable.

in regards to the swivel.... as i said, I just rec'd my M series auto last week, and no swivel was in the packaging... I emailed cpap.com and asked about it, assuming it was left out by mistake and this was their response.
Greetings,
Respironics quit including that item with the machines because it is
defective and can cause water to leak from the humidifier into the
machine or onto your furniture causing damage.
If you still really want one and will assume the risk of voiding the
warranty if any damage occurs you may order it here:
M Series Tubing Swivel
$ 5.65

M Series
My M series is very quiet. I hear the mask noise, but not the machine. It sits very close to my bed on a shelf - not on the floor. I would bet there is something wrong with the machine. Are you sure there is nothing caught in the hose? Is the hose crimped? Is the humidifier properly connected and the door down?
Does the humidifier have the 2 soft gaskets properly fitted? If they are loose or missing, it could make some noise. Please check those. Snoredog could probably come up with a picture of how they should fit. Maybe if we ask him, he would help. Thanks in advance Snoredog.

I know they were getting claims for water damaged furniture, if they removed it from the packaging they should have replaced it with a RIGID elbow that didn't leak such as with the one that comes with the Aussie heated hose.Lyza wrote:in regards to the swivel.... as i said, I just rec'd my M series auto last week, and no swivel was in the packaging... WITHOUT an elbow being included, that M series machine is pretty much worthless attempting to put it on your night stand. I wonder if Respironics really did remove it from the packaging and/or if cpap.com elected to remove it on its own to eliminate any liability issues for water damaged furniture.
From a design persective, the Respironics Engineers who designed the M series machine easily earn my Peter Farrell award:
